Starting Over Reviews:
Reba Builds a Bridge............
2006-11-01 - and pays tribute to those who inspired her.
It's strange but too many fans of Reba's seem to go balistic whenever she reaches beyond what they think the boundries of country music are. However Ms. Reba reaches all of us and her unique voice can tackle whatever type of music she chooses to sing. Further her star turn on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun turned on a new new audience for Reba, yes imagine that city people, including some of Broadways biggest patrons, gay men, getting into Reba.
For this CD Reba pays homage to the Country and Pop stars that she enjoyed growing up. Please Come To Boston, On My Own, and Your No Good being to me the best Pop bridges. A few of the tracks are songs that crossed over between the Pop, and Country tracks many years ago including, By The Time I Get To Phoenix,
Talking In Your Sleep, and Ring On Her Finger amoung them.
Speaking of reaching beyond the boundries, Reba's read on Starting Over Again is pure and simple and this track a number one country song for Dolly Parton, is also notable for it's writer, Donna Summer, and her writing partner and husband of 26 years, Bruce Sudano. Your No Good, the Linda Rhonstadt hit allows Reba to rock out just a bit.
If there is a mis-step here, I think that Reba should have tackled one of the Supreme's ballads as opoosed to the track represented here, You Keep me Hanging On.
Ms. Reba, never stop, Starting Over!

No remakes please
2006-07-15 - I think artists should stay away from doing songs from other artists. When an artists does remakes it never sounds like the original ones. Reba is no exception. She butchers these songs. The only good song on this CD is Starting Over Again. So Reba please do not do any more remakes of other artists songs.
Stick to your own songs.
Wonderful!
2006-04-27 - Once again, Reba does not fail to deliver with this beautiful cover album. Her voice always takes control of whatever song she sings, and she makes them her own with remarkable delivery and that voice we all know and love. It is powerful, calm, beautiful, and remarkable all at once, this is highly recommended!
Starting Over...
2006-03-03 - As much as I adore all of Reba's songs and cds, Starting Over is one of my favorites! I'm glad I found this cd here!
AN UNMITIGATED DISASTER!!
2005-10-27 - This is possibly one of the worst recordings I have ever heard! Reba has no business doing "cover" songs that cannot be topped! And if she was going to do it the least she could have done was to pick good ones. HOnestly....."On My Own" .... flopped on the charts and even the DJS admitted it was a mistake for her to release this turkey of a song. Add "You Keep Me Hangin On" and "You're NO Good" to that list. The country songs aren't much better. SHe butchers most of them except for "Starting Over" which I think is better than Dolly's version. I still wouldn't have chosen to cover it, though. And she can never match Crystal Gayle on "Talking in Your Sleep" or Ray Price on "I Won't Mention It Again". "Ring on Her Finger" is adequate but too over-the-top!! This CD was given scathing reviews by the critics when it was first released....and with good reason. It was an unmitigated disaster!
