Editorial Review:
Rebecca De Mornay (THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE) and Don Johnson (PARADISE) scorch the screen in this spine-tingling, seductively sexy thriller. De Mornay stars as a sexy, hothot criminal defense attorney who plays to win -- and usually does. She meets her match when she represents a playboy (Don Johnson) accused of murdering his rich wife. The attractive lawyer, captured by her client's irresistible charm, finds herself caught in his seductive, psychological web of deceit from which there is no legal escape -- and soon fears she may be his next victim. From its first startling plot twist, GUILTY AS SIN is a riveting edge-of-your-seat suspense thriller leading to a sensational climax. Don't miss it!
Guilty as Sin Reviews:
JUST OK
2009-09-14 - THIS MOVIE WAS OK...NOT A FAN OF DON JOHNSTON...AND I AM STILL NOT A FAN.
Don Johnson's Best and Most Charming Performance!!!
2009-09-12 - I rate this film 5 stars for Don Johnson's best charismatic, charming talent as a serial killer. The plot was basically dull and not that suspenseful but Don Johnson really livened up this movie with his great looks and naturally charming charisma. I also have to say that this one of Rebecca DeMornay's finest and most strongest performances as well ever since I saw her in the Hand That Rocks The Cradle. She deserved 5 stars as well in her role as Miss Haynes, the win at any cost lawyer. But meeting Don Johnson turns out to be a real shock to her when she realizes she cannot win so easily against that evil, manipulative mind of his. DeMornay and Johnson were definitely the movie because they easily brought out a performance of a battle between justice and evil manipulation and deception. It was their talents and attractiveness that had me glued to the screen. If it were any other actors I would say that this movie wouldn't have done much for me. DeMornay and Johnson were the only ones that could really pull these roles off and hold this movie together. I recommend it if you are a Don Johnson or Rebecca DeMornay fan or both.
Guilty as sin
2008-12-23 - I bought this to replace a VCR tape, I wanted a DVD. It is a good movie
A very excellent legal thriller!
2008-12-14 - Rebecca De Mornay and Don Johnson both turn in superb performances in this gripping legal thriller. Johnson plays the role of a thoroughly despicable human being accused of murdering his wife. De Mornay is his defense attorney, experiencing what all attorneys fear--the Client From Hell. More would be telling, but this is a really gripping film.
De Mornay turns in a really fine performance, and I like her a lot anyway; she has great presence on the silver screen. Don Johnson did a really good job playing the cad; I had never seen him in this kind of role before, and he pulled it off very well.
The film moves at a fast pace, and there are no dead spots in the middle where the story drags. It engages the viewer from the first scene to the last, with no letup at all. My only criticism of the film is that I found that there were really not much in the way of surprises--you can see where this one is going pretty much throughout. But that is all right; this is still a very gripping film.
This film shows that we should really be seeing (and should already have seen) more of both Rebecca De Mornay and Don Johnson in films to come. Both actors seem underused.
DON JOHNSON DELIVERS
2005-10-24 - Don Johnson plays a dangerous sociopath who enjoys planning the execution of the women he uses while they think they are using him. He lures a beautiful well connected attorney into defending him against a murder charge by creating evidence that links her to the crime.
So here's the review: Johnson delivers a stunning portrayal of a man who is barely sane but perfectly effective in his manipulations of people, specifically women. Every scene in which he reveals his character is riveting in its complexity. Without Johnson this is an entertaining movie with a competent cast. But Johnson's perfomance is a master class in acting. If you want to see how it's done, get the DVD.
