Editorial Review:
Now in paperback, the New York Times bestseller by one of rock’s most provocative figures

Scar Tissue is Anthony Kiedis’s searingly honest memoir of a life spent in the fast lane. In 1983, four self-described "knuckleheads" burst out of the mosh-pitted mosaic of the neo-punk rock scene in L.A. with their own unique brand of cosmic hardcore mayhem funk. Over twenty years later, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, against all odds, have become one of the most successful bands in the world. Though the band has gone through many incarnations, Anthony Kiedis, the group’s lyricist and dynamic lead singer, has been there for the whole roller-coaster ride.

Whether he’s recollecting the influence of the beautiful, strong women who have been his muses, or retracing a journey that has included appearances as diverse as a performance before half a million people at Woodstock or an audience of one at the humble compound of the exiled Dalai Lama, Kiedis shares a compelling story about the price of success and excess. Scar Tissue is a story of dedication and debauchery, of intrigue and integrity, of recklessness and redemption -- a story that could only have come out of the world of rock.

Scar Tissue Reviews:
Fan or Not Great Book 5 Star Review
2009-08-31 - I loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers before I started reading and I love them even more now. If you don't have there earlier albums buy all them all and listen to them in order while you read the book. You really get a sense of where Anthony is coming from when he wrote his lyrics.

a keeper... 5 Star Review
2009-08-16 - i will read virtually any autobiography i can get my hands on, but of course the ones by artists or people i am already interested in are the most interesting to me...there is nothing more disappointing than getting your excited little hands on a book by someone you already love, and it being boring, self loathing, or a pity party for them. this book is by far in my top three favorites...even if you arent a huge chili peppers fan, this is a great book. anthony really tells his story diplomatically-meaning he wants you to know HONESTLY why he made the decisions he has made in his life, where he comes from, and that he accepts and owns his mistakes and faliures, as well as his strenghths and accomplishments. i thought it to be a very endearing story, and i recommend it to anyone that loves biographies :)

Loved it... 4 Star Review
2009-06-27 - I'm not a huge fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but I'm familiar with some of their more popular songs. I picked up this book mainly because one of my friends was reading it and I scanned the first couple of pages and thought it sounded interesting.

I was engrossed throughout the entire book. Kiedis has certainly led an interesting life and my interest was peaked throughout. I enjoyed the writing style and the structure.

Thumbs up from me.

AWESOME BOOK 4 Star Review
2009-05-10 - Okay so I adore John Frusciante & the Red Hot Chili Peppers and I heard this book was really good, so I figured that I would pick it up. It's not a great bio but a great book. PERIOD! Like everything I would take some of the stuff with a grain of salt but Kiedis does have an excellent memory for an ex-junkie (most of them can't remember anything) and it's not only entertaining it really lets you feel like for a brief moment in time your allowed in that ultra exclusive club that is superstardom. The only thing I can say negative is that it's very, this happened, then that happened. For instance, he talks about his relationship with Ione Skye and how she was this goddess and how he wouldn't be alive without her care and love. Then he goes on tour and you don't hear anything about her and he adds that he was having sex with groupies again because he and Ione broke-up. Almost like a footnote. He also talks about how he and John were great friends and then all of a sudden they weren't with no explanation of what happened or what he might have done wrong. I would seriously pick it up tho. Overall B

Kiedis lived a great life 5 Star Review
2009-04-14 - The lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers at first was just that, the lead singer. After this book, i found out many things that I did not know. He has had so many experiences, but many that have happened because of drub abuse. According to his book, he should have died a long time ago. From a young age, he experienced so many things, that i am happy to say, that he didn't. Having read his story, has made me think about addiction and the rule it has over people. His book expresses the effort he put into being the man he is today. He also talks about the women that helped shaped who he is. I do have to say that he did leave me a little empty, just wondering what his life has left for him...Kiedis rocks!!!
