Fantastic. 
2006-07-30 - "Scar Tissue" is a flawless track with beautiful guitar solos and magnificent vocals. It keeps you hypnotized the entire time it's playing, as a metronome of beauty and grace. There is not a single flaw that I have noticed in the song--not one. It plays more fluently and exquisitely each time. The choruses build up until the finale--ending in a spectacular array of meticulously executed perfection; it is simply mind-blowing. It creates an all around amazing ballad. In the final moments of the song, John is heard playing one of the most memorable guitar solos of his life. He blends emotion with skill and produces a compelling ecstasy of pure satisfaction.
"Gong Li" is a magnificent track which comes off as a Middle-Eastern type of jam. Inexplicable sounds can be heard when listening, and, all in all, this is one of the better b-sides the Chili's have ever done. It's masterful.
"Instrumental #1", on the other hand, feels rushed and imperfect after going through seven minutes of bliss, however you can live through it. It's nothing intolerable.
In the end, this is one of the best and rarest Singles you can find--get it while you can, as this is pure gold.

2005-09-29 - Leadoff single from "Californication", "Scar Tissue" seemed to get endless airplay when it came out. An odd song constructed around a staggered vocal line with a moody guitar sound, the piece did exceedingly well. But it's not the value of this record, the two b-sides, both unreleased outside of this single, are.
"Gong Li" is a moody piece, alternating between an Eastern-styled guitar-and-bass part and a pretty straight rock verse-- tight vocal harmonies and Anthony Kiedis in fine form carry the song-- sung to a woman who betrayed the protagonist. "Instrumental #1" feels like a demo-- a funky slapped bassline from Flea, funky laid back beat and what sounds to be mostly improvised soloing on top by John Frusciante. It's a good enough listen, but it doesn't really grab you.
Still, as far as singles goes, this one is pretty good, and "Gong Li" is worth digging this up.
Wow! This is the best!
2005-06-11 - Scar Tissue is a very good song! It is a hit, and you can buy it on Californication. But there is also two b-sides-and one of them is "Gong Li." I swear it is the best one, probably the best RHCP song around! It starts with a sort of bubbly noise (it's very hard to describe) and then they go into the chorus "Some people say you hate me," and so forth. Anyone would like this! And then after you finish listening to that we go to the third track, which is called Instrumental #1. Freshmankelly has already covered my words, Teatro Jam from the "Aroud The World" single is a little better. It's still worth listening to. My guess is that it's like a practice song. And the, that's it! Just check it out, it's perfect! Btw, I'm not sure where to get Instrumental #2, I've been looking for myself, ha-ha!
Great B-Sides!
2003-07-07 - The B-sides on this single are good but one in particular stands out. "Gong Li" should have gone on the album itself. It's one of the best b-sides they've ever done. I couldn't get it out of my head for days. I think Anthony wrote the lyrics about John. It's very soothing. The instrumental #1 track is cool but the one from the Around the World single (Teatro Jam) is better.

2001-03-22 - Scar tissue is a really good Red Hot Chili Peppers song. So is Gong Li which can be found only here(with the exception of the 3 track bonus of californication).Instumental #1 is also found there.This CD is really worth buying if you like the rhcp even a little.
