The Uplift Mofo Party Plan Reviews:
Knowing how to party
2009-07-23 - 3 1/2
There was a reason no one gave these guys lip for naming themselves what they did. From the start the Chili's defined adolescent aggression with an elegance rarely matched in the kind of recklessly abandoned, unhinged punk-funk these pioneered by these stale cucumbers. Ironically as the quality of compositions improved throughout the years, so the genuine energy level depleted.
BEST WORK
2008-08-16 - No question the Red Hot Chili Pepper's best work. It's a pity it had to be the last with original founding guitarist Hillel Slovak.
Party Plan's greatness hits you from the first glance at the cover right through to the last track. You know it's going to be great before you even peel off the shrinkwrap. It's one powerful, driving song after another. If this album doesn't get you pumped up, you're a lost cause. I'm not going to do a song-by-song breakdown because they are all killer. This was the band's creative peak IMO, and the music reflects that. The cover is a perfect depiction of the soundscape the tracks convey to your eardrums. My only beef with Party Plan is that it's too short.
I highly recommend Party Plan for any RHCP fans who like their later album BloodSugarSexMagik. Party Plan is like the older brother to that record, and BSSM recycled a few of the musical ideas that originated on Party Plan. If you like the atrocious trainwreck called By the Way, you will probably hate Party Plan. Either way, I still recommend it to you people so you can see what the Red Hot Chili Peppers are REALLY all about.
When you pick up Party Plan (notice I didn't say "if"), GO FOR THE REMASTERED VERSION. The production on the original album is downright AWFUL. The remastered re-release completely fixes the mix and the songs sound as they should. You also get a beautiful booklet with liner notes from Flea.
You are not a RHCP fan until you own this record.
Product Review
2008-05-12 - To me this is when the Chili Peppers were good. I have been looking for this album for years and they are hard to find on CD. I can say a must have for all those who remember the 80's punk rock area or just in to funk music.
The Chili Peppers` hardest rocking album
2008-04-24 - The Uplift Mofo Party Plan is not only one of my favorite Red Hot Chili Pepper albums, but also one of my favorite albums of all time. This album finally had the original lineup of Anthony, Flea, Hillel and Jack together for what sadly turned out to be their only studio album. The album had the same elements of the Chili Peppers` previous albums with Anthony`s rapping and Flea masterful work on the bass, but at the same time it differed from the self titled debut and Freaky Styley with a harder rocking sound powered by Hillel Slovak`s blistering guitar. I highly recommend The Uplift Mofo Party Plan to the younger fans of the Chili Peppers that want to get educated on the bands` roots.
Favorite songs: Fight Like A Brave, Me and My Friends, Backwoods, Behind The Sun and Special Secret Song Inside aka I wanna Party on Your P*ssy.
Estas saltando=UR TRIPPIN'
2007-09-26 - This is the consummate Peppers record, PERIOD! Yeah, Blood Sugar Sex Magic (BSSM), might be more accessible, but Acid proves that the Uplift was the shizzle before anyone even thought of shizzlin' it.
Dose out 'n' love the Uplift, especially with headphones.
