a decent single leading off "One Hot Minute".
2005-09-27 - Leadoff single to "One Hot Minute", The "Warped" single includes an edit of the title track, the album version of "Pea", and otherwise unavailable "Melancholy Mechanics".

"Warped" is a churning, exciting song-- with then-new guitarist Dave Navarro on fire and just a superb piece-- funky and exciting and very much the fusion of old Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction you'd sort of hope to see with this band. "Pea" is a bizarre piece performed by Flea on vocal and acoustic bass about an encounter he had with a "redneck d**k" (his words) that is wistful and bizarre and well worth hearing.

But both of these are available on the album-- the real b-side is "Melancholy Mechanics", a wistful piece, bizarre lyrically that kind of meanders on in an uncomfortable fashion before reaching an explosion. Remarkably, I love the song until it layers with distortion, because its wistfulness works well, but the rest is kind of uninteresting.

Still, the song is decent enough to apply some real value to this single. A good thing to dig up for diehards.
