My Rifle, My Pony and Me (Western Movies Songs) Reviews:
Old Western Movie soundtracks to take you back
2009-07-09 - There are some real rare song titles here with famous stars singing as well. This soundtrack CD is a definite must have for the old western movie aficionado. With voices from Johnny Cash, The Sons of the Pioneers, James Stewart, Marty Robbins, Dean Martin and many more you cannot go wrong with this CD.
Love the title song
2008-05-05 - I bought this CD for the title song. It is the same as in the movie "Rio Bravo" (my husband's favorite movie which we watch all the time). There is a strange intro by John Wayne but doesn't take away from the song, which seems to be cut off at the end just a few seconds too soon. I like several other selections, including the theme from "The Searchers". The others are OK with some that are strange. Why have Lorne Greene half/talk-half/sing the "Bonanza" theme? Just give me the real thing. The CD has songs you wouldn't find just anywhere and I like that. I really wanted the Dean Martin/Ricky Nelson title song and the CD was worth it to me.
My Rifle, My Pony and Me
2008-01-08 - A must for any man that loves westerns. My husband has played this CD so many times I'm surprised it still has sound. I have to admit that I also love it.
Love To Hear Those Old Forgotten Songs
2007-10-04 - This CD takes me back to when I first watched those movies and and (How Sweet It Is) to hear John Waynes natural voice when he introduces MY RIFLE, MY PONY AND ME. A treasure in it's self.
Very Nice!!!
2007-09-09 - Once again Bear Family comes through. There are some obscure tracks on this disc including Jimmy Stewart's Shenandoah and Dean Martin's vocal version of Rio Bravo which never made it into the movie!! Johnny Western's theme from "Paladin" is here as is the version of Frankie Laine's "Rawhide" with the whips cracking. I would liked to have seen Frankie's "3:10 to Yuma" and the other song that Dean and Ricky did from "Rio Bravo", "Cindy", and the theme from "El Dorado", but all in all this is a very nice disc.
