softly rolling stones 5 Star Review
2009-11-15 - Rolling Stones is one of these rock bands which has beautiful songs in their repertoire but unfortunately these are not the songs the mass media kept on playing over and over. Many of us were exposed to that mass media and could not stand those songs after a while. I was one of such people. Every time I heard I Can't Get No Satisfaction blasting I thought, why not Angie, one of the most beautiful songs I know.

This album brought us Angie and every time I listen to this song I try to imagine what must have been going through Mick's and Keith's heads once they heard it fully recorded for the first time. It is very rare to captivate such beauty, and wrap it up in a rock song. Rolling Stones gave us quite a few of such absolute jewels. On this album alone I find 3 more, Coming Down Again, Winter, and Can You Hear The Music. To be quite honest I had a huge selection of music without any other Rolling Stones albums in it for a long time, because I don't like rock'n'roll which as we all know was not foreign to Rolling Stones. However, going through their back cataloque I have easily found a ton of music to make my own compilation of Rolling Stones, completely rock'n'roll free, loaded with beautiful songs. Actually, there are probably enough songs left to compile another one. I have made my compilation back in 2007 and by the way, I was blown away by how many great songs these guys were able to create in the late 1990. I have tremendous respect for them and for all those things they have left us behind.

NEW STONE SOUND! 5 Star Review
2009-11-13 - I remember when this album was 1st released and how excited i was to play it...Some of the tracks were over my head for my age at the time
like, Can you hear the music, Coming Down Again, but others rocked like no other album, Star Star, 100 years ago and Heartbreaker..
This album also has one of the most beautiful ballads of all time, Angie. And a very nice slower track Winter...
But when this kind of "dark" and a little laid back album was released on Cd back in 1986 the sound became "muddy" and even darker...Almost to becoming boring...

This New Remaster brings this album back to life.. Songs that i never liked, i now love....(Coming down again, Can you hear the music).
It is now much cleaner and less "muddy" sounding allowing you to NOW hear every note that Mick Taylor plays...Wow
it sounds even better then it did when it was on a lp!

The biggest problem some say is how they changed or bleeped a word from Star Star...This was why i waited to buy this cd...My copy the words are the same as on the lp which is great news.

This remaster is well worth the price for a classic album! It brings back what the Stones were trying to do in the studio by not just making another Pop album.. It is a album ahead of its time back in
1973 and now we can finely hear it! Its like a Fine art restored and made New again...

Censored! 1 Star Review
2009-10-16 - I can't believe they released a censored version of this underrated classic stones album - pathetic. Why not just slap a parental advisory sticker on it. The stones should be ashamed of themselves!

Remaster fix a flat holds for a few more miles 4 Star Review
2009-08-11 - Let's be clear about one thing: even at this day and age no one has figured out how to help poor old GHS's pitiful sound quality all that much and for good reason; it has to do with the original recording studio. Gus Dudgeon, Elton's John classic era producer tried to record Elton's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" there once, only to give up and go home. He claimed the the studio sounded like '10,000 japaense radios' and he went on to say that he didn't know how the Stones ever got GHS out of there. Even on this attempted remaster the sound is muddy and lacks any sort of 'pop' in the snare or 'kick' in the bass drums because of this.
One good thing though - the hiss is all gone, and that really helps tracks like "Angie" and "Can You Hear The music"; the uncovered percussive acoustic guitar now drives "Heartbreaker" to nice effect. What saves this album is the great songs, no matter how cluddery things get at times. This is probably as good as it can ever sound.
