Jump Back: The Best of the Rolling Stones 1971-1993 Reviews:
"Stoned" in The Big Easy
2009-12-17 - I was a fan of the early Stones, but my interest in them cooled after "Let It Bleed". No reflection on them really; they changed, the times changed, and I changed, and moved to New Orleans - a radical relocation. But I always enjoyed hearing their hits. Recently, when I realized that I did not have "Angie" on CD (Thanks, David F.!), I grabbed this collection REAL quick. I find it to be very good, through and through. There are the really great songs that I remember, like "Brown Sugar", "It's Only Rock 'N Roll", "Tumbling Dice", "Wild Horses" and "B*tch". Then there are those that I remember, foggily but fondly, as being part of the soundtrack of my life, like "Start Me Up", "Miss You", "Hot Stuff", "Emotional Rescue" and "Waiting On A Friend". And finally, there are those that I barely remember, such as "Fool To Cry", "Mixed Emotions", "Undercover Of The Night" and "Rock And A Hard Place". Honestly, the only one I do not like is "Harlem Shuffle". The remastered sound is excellent. And I can tell you for sure that all of the tracks sound sharper now than they ever did in the substance-abusing days and nights passed in French Quarter bars. So, if you need the same memory gap filled in that I did, here's a good way to do it.
A Filthy Commercial Success...
2009-12-06 - You Chumps that complain about what is or isn't on a compilation are pathetic. If you really like the Stones then you already have everything good. If you rely on someone else to tell you what's worth having or important, then you're just a sucker that's ripe for the taking. Buy, borrow or steal the original whole albums(remastered) 'cause there's ALWAYS great stuff on 'em that doesn't make the "greatest" hits or box sets. Seriously, it's like talking to children...
Great Music , can't be played on Shuffle mode
2009-12-06 - This great music speaks for itself. Sound quality is good and selection is very far reaching and works well as an album. My problem came when i loaded it into my 6 CD Onkyo turn table. I dont know if they put some kind of protection or what on this album, but when the CD player selects this album randomly it seems to think it has 44 songs. So it chooses song number 29 for example, which doesnt exist, then the player just stops. If you play only one disk at a time this is a great album. But if you like to load up 5-6 great albums and have good random music for hours this one is not usable. I dont know what kinda games they are playing, but I would think they would test this stuff before they sell an album. I am rating the CD for people who may buy it. This is not a music review, so dont bother lecturing me on not giving one star to a good album. Hopefully I can save a few other people from getting cheated by the CD company.
hide your love
2009-11-06 - GOOD HITS but REALLY IS 3-4 SONGS SHORT !!!! WHY,...WHY don't the stones put" HIDE YOUR LOVE" on a hits album. It is the best song from GOAT HEAD SOUP album. GREATEST blues song they ever sung, wish it was on there album "STRIPPED" more then a hits collection, wanta be ( INSTEAD ). Why, because mick could really sing this song well on a live or unplugged album. This song, hide your love, is buy far the most underplayed , not recognized song of the stones. RE-RECORD IT, MICK and stick it on a ALL BLUES ALBUM, by the stones. We need that to, by the way ( ALL BLUES ALBUM ).....before you quit singing. SERIOUSLY. Aerosmith did this and it's there best album since early nineties....EVER, in my opinion. ( PS) The song "GIONG TO A GO-GO" is great and should really be put on a STONES HIT ALBUM AS WELL. Or a re-release of "STRIPPED" collectors edition....for collectors. REALLY SOUNDS GOOD LIVE...for stripped. WHICH IS A LIVE RARE HIT SONG COLLECTION....by the stones. BY FAR BETTER THEN THIS HITS CD.
ROLLING STONES LICK IT UP
2009-09-29 - The Stones Tongue says it all: stick it out to show disdain, lust, joy, disrespect, anger and/or taunting. It is the perfect representation of the Stones History. And these songs from the second era of their brilliant career attest to their reign as the Greatest Rocknroll Band in the World. When the Stones are on,
no one comes close to matching their Genius. JUMP BACK is a jump forward that never
misses a beat- Jump to it Jack!
