Metamorphosis Reviews:
Well, it beat "Made In The Shade" at the time (1975), that's for sure... 2 Star Review
2007-05-17 - Metamorphosis: AKA "Klien's Revenge." That's all that needs to be said. BTW, I purchased MY copy of Metamorphosis from a purveyor in/from Russia, and it has 6 "bonus" tracks on it (which, in truth, are about as el-stinko as the rest of album itself), but it has the infamous "And Mr. Spector & Mr. Pitney Came Too." Yeah: THAT one... Anyway, DO get this CD, if for nothing more than "I Don't Know Why" and "Family." BTW, I DO have a conscience: this AIN'T worth 39 bucks, and you can get "I Don't Know Why" on that ABKCO/Stones' singles thing.

Mostly Pretty Bad 5 Star Review
2006-06-12 - Well, I gotta admit, I don't play this record very much. About once a year or so I'll put it on, listen a bit, then take it off. The alternate version of out of time, which was a demo Mick did for Chris Farlowe doesn't light a candle to the version on the UK version of "Aftermath" or the shorter version on "Flowers." Likewise the version of "Heart of Stone" fails in comparison to the version on the UK version of "Out of Our Heads" and "Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass). I guess I just can't wrap myself around the girl flower power back ground singers and the studio musicians ABKCO and former manage Allen Klein added. They just plane ruined those songs. "Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind" and "Each and Everyday of the Year" are just awful. There are other songs on this record too awful to mention as well, but somehow, I don't know how, Mick shines through the awful production of "Try a Little Harder." The cover version of Chuck Berry's "Don't Lie to Me," is alright. Mick's recording of Stevie Wonder's "I Don't Know Why" would have been a master piece in the hands of Jimmy Miller, here it is abismal. The real saving graces of this record are "Jiving Sister Fanny" and "Downtown Suzie. Mostly this record is pretty bad.

I will buy if it's reasonably priced 3 Star Review
2006-05-29 - This was the final commitment to ABACKO records, or London Records. It is a mix of alot of songs in the closet. Most of these would wind up on the cd box set called "The London Years" in 1989. There are some rare things here some are rather lame, but there are some tasty nuggets here. "Out Of Time" originally released on the "Flowers" album this is an alternate version with British Blue-Eyed soul singer Chris Farlowe singing with them, "I'm Going Down" probably the best Stones song from the 70's that wasn't on the "Sticky Fingers" album. If I heard this on the boardwalks of New Jersey I'd consider it a fond memory today, "I Don't Know Why( I Love You)" is actually done very well here. Written by Stevie Wonder it was recorded the night Brian Jones died, and "Memo From Turner" I've heard and loved this song since I was 15 was from the soundtrack of Mick Jagger's movie "Performance". The rest was either o.k., or terrible, but the one I don't think I've heard it yet, but "Heart Of Stone" I know it's off of "The Rolling Stones NOW!" album, but I remember hearing an orchestrated version of the song which was conducted by Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham. I'd want to hear that again. This is probably the lone Stones album that would make it onto a Trivial Pursuit card because chances are "You Don't Remember IT!!!" It's reissued now, but unless I find it to be like $11.99, or lower I will pass.
