Ivan, Julia and Kike were born and grew up in Culebra where they shared a close friendship. Ivan and Julia are a couple but Kike is in love with Julia. They are separated when Ivan is drafted and sent to Vietnam. When Ivan is reported MIA for several years, Julia becomes closer with Kike. Ivan returns, takes Julia to New York and marries her, leaving Kike behind. Much later, Ivan is diagnosed with cancer, and this time it is he who decides to return to Culebra with Julia. With her help, he begins to participate in Culebra's social needs. He even ventures in a small boat and that is when he stumbles on Cayo, a small island closeby. Here he finds peace of mind, and the island has a healing effect on him. When federal authorities try to keep Ivan away from Cayo, they find themselves face to face with a community that will defend Ivan's need to visit the island. Based on a true story of love and friendship that will touch your heart, this wrenching drama was filmed in the beautiful natural scenery of Culebra, Puerto Rico.
Ivan, Julia y Kike crecen juntos en la isla de Culebra donde desarrollan una amistad muy cercana y especial. Ivan y Julia son una pareja, pero Kike tambien ama a Julia. La vida los separa cuando el ejercito de los Estados Unidos recluta a Ivan para enviarlo a Vietnam. La desaparicion, por anos, de Ivan en la guerra da pie a que Julia y Kike se acerquen. Un dia, Ivan subitamente reaparece y se lleva a Julia a Nueva York, dejando a Kike humillado y resentido. Muchos anos mas tarde, a Ivan le diagnostican un cancer terminal y decide regresar con Julia a morir a su isla. Julia lo ayuda a integrarse a la vida cotidiana de Culebra, hasta el punto en que Ivan decide comprarse un botecito. Asi se encuentra con el Cayo, una islita cerca de Culebra y alli Ivan se nutre del poder vital de la naturaleza. Poco a poco la isla va teniendo un efecto terapeutico sobre el. Cuando las autoridades federales tratan de prohibirle el uso del Cayo, se encuentran con una comunidad dispuesta a defender el derecho de Ivan, y el suyo propio, al uso de la islita. Esta pelicula esta basada en una historia real de amor, amistad y solidaridad que llegara a todas las fibras de su corazon. 2009-01-11 - I enjoyed this movie very much! I'm not a big fan of Roselyn's, but all the other actors did extremely great. And the beautiful sights of the island of Culebra made me want to go visit one day. It's a true story and very well worth watching!

2008-11-11 - This movie was great. I love the story line and the fact that the movie was shot in the island of culebra. The actors were very good and overall I would recommend this movie. The scenery was magical and Roselyn Sanchez is a goddess.

2008-10-21 - This was a great movie. Even if you don't know Spanish, you should buy this movie. It is a really great love story you will be glad you watched. If you liked The Notebook, you will like this movie. Watch it with someone you love.
