Editorial Review: No Description Available. Genre: Feature Film-Drama Rating: R Release Date: 15-FEB-2005 Media Type: DVD Chain of Fools Reviews: Silly comedy with all star cast 2009-01-21 - This movie is the basic looser makes good comedy.
It is very unlikely that a barber would have both Lara Flynn Boyle and Salma Hayek as wife and girl friend
let alone have three coins worth several millions of dollars?
So on this unrealistic plot twist
the movie pretty much fails with an all star cast
who mostly went on to bigger and better things?
It might of worked with Jeff Goldblum as the barber?
Very funny, dark, clever, under appreciated gem 2008-04-29 - Awesome cast, clever plot, intricate story, hilarious dialogue. But watch out, it's smarter than your average multiplex comedy, and it's dark.
Do all you reviewers have some kind of money-accruing interest in the overall sales of this film? 2006-06-04 - Although I will admit the cast is great (David Cross's appearance alone makes this worth your time (and he is in the movie for a combined 20 minutes)), this movie, completely and absolutely sucks. Its like Cheaper by the Dozen meets some other crappy movie . . . and then they have an even crappier child, with non-humourous deformities.
The only way I could see someone suggesting someone else buy this movie is if they had a gun pointed at their head . . . and even then the person with the gun would probably have to move the aforementioned "someone else's" lips for them, and then have a third and/or fourth person move their tongue and force air out of their lungs . . . because no one should ever, of their own volition, suggest someone else buy this movie.
If you do buy it, you'll only watch it once . . and then end up hating yourself for the rest of your life . . . which will ultimately be shorter after seeing this movie (not even including the 1.5 hours this movie wastes).
Again, I gave this movie a 2 star rating instead of just 1 because David Cross decided it was worth his time to be in it. However, it appears Mr. Cross did not read the script.
Nuts. I am watching the movie as I write this and Michael Rappaport just made appearance. And they threw in an Eels song (or it could be solo stuff). I am upping it to 3 stars.
It still is not a good movie.
We should go see "Cats" 2006-03-17 - This movie has some very notable star-power. Steve Zahn is very entertaining in his lead role as a bumbling barber. Jeff Goldblum, David Cross, Salma Hayek, Elijah Wood and Michael Rappaport are all very good in their unique supporting roles.
It's basically a cool movie with some interesting characters. The story isn't terribly deep or intricate, but it is interesting. I didn't know what to expect when I rented this film, but I have to say that I was expecting a bit more, given the cast.
I would recommend seeing it once - but I'm not sure it's worth buying.
A decent film, but not very memorable 2005-10-29 - Chain of Fools, brings to the screen the story of a barber who finds himself involved in the theft of rare Chinese coins.
Overall, the acting is very good (Jeff Goldblum, Steve Zahn, Salma Hayek and the rest of the cast do a good job), but it's Tom Wilkinson that really steals the show for me.
As for the plot, it is interesting, though it lacks that extra something to put it over the top.
In short, far from being a masterpiece, it is a movie worth watching, though you might not want to go as far as purchasing it.
