Extraordinarily empowering and heartbreakingly funny, the Sundance favorite V-DAY: UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS chronicles how Eve Ensler's hit Broadway solo show The Vagina Monologues grew into V-Day, an international grassroots movement to stop violence against women and girls. The first of its kind, The Vagina Monologues has been widely recognized as "a celebration of women's sexuality and a condemnation of its violation" (The New York Times) and praised as "frank, humorous and moving" (Chicago Tribune). Over eight hundred cities around the world have participated in V-Day by staging benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues. From locales as diverse as New York, the Phillippines and Kenya, director Abby Epstein's UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS features emotionally charged interviews and readings by everyday and celebrity women (including Rosie Perez, Salma Hayek, Rosario Dawson, Jane Fonda and LisaGay Hamilton), all of whom courageously reveal their intimate experiences and bond together to break the silence that surrounds abuse. More than just a group testimonial, UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS is a moving celebration of community awareness that leaves us with the hope that change can happen. DVD Features: Deleted Scenes/Locations; V-Day Spotlight Campaigns; Interactive Menus; Scene Selection

V-Day - Until the Violence Stops Reviews:
The power of synergy to affect change 5 Star Review
2008-08-19 - I attended the Vagina Monologues the first time it came to town around 2002. I brought an older woman friend with me as her birthday gift. We laughed, we cried, we were moved, we were changed. I felt empowered, despite the fact I was already vocal about women's issues prior to that.

Now, I have just watched the VDAY video and was moved even more. It touches on many issues, venues, and countries with moving snippets. I would have liked to see even more of the Vagina Monologues, but can't complain after seeing so much more overall, than I expected. Great pieces on Agnes who runs the safehouse for FGM refugees and the women of Afghanistan, to name a few.

Nothing should be left behind, so the special features need to be viewed as well. This DVD should be required viewing for all high school students in order to break the cycle of violence against women, before it can continue.

Thank you Eve Ensler for speaking on women's behalf and creating the synergy to affect change.

Moving and powerful 5 Star Review
2008-02-25 - I've seen this movie multiple times now and I take something away every time. Very well done!

    V-Day 4 Star Review
2007-12-21 - A good look at what the V-Day program is all about. A little highly priced for what you get but a worthwhile viewing if you are interested in grass roots and NGO efforts to help stop violence against women. The proceeds also go to a worthwhile cause. I knew little about the program and was impressed with the efforts to raise money and awareness. It was a well done documentary and inspiring to see the efforts of some women in difficult situations. I recommend this DVD to anyone who is interested in helping to stop the worldwide epidemic knows as violence against women.

Subject matter excellent -- presentation, eh! 3 Star Review
2007-02-17 - I love Eve Ensler and most of what she does, but I did not find this to be well put together. I still would keep it in my library, but I was somewhat disappoionted in the presentation.

Vday-Until the Violence Stops 5 Star Review
2007-01-09 - As an elderly victim-survivor-celebrant of incest, date rape and third generation of domestic violence, I speak of personal knowledge of what assistance can accomplish. This is the most inspiring of all the V-Day publications. Viewing the struggles world-wide of abused women AND the successful efforts to renew and empower them ~ is worth ten times the price of this. I have shared it with ten women (so far) who knew nothing of Eve Ensler. It has become my mission. I am proud to own and share this publication and DVD.
