  • Max & Ruby - Afternoons With Max & Ruby / Party Time With Max & Ruby Reviews:
Our whole family loves Max & Ruby 5 Star Review
2008-07-09 - My two year old son always asks if he can watch Max & Ruby. It is his favorite show. This DVD set is perfect and we plan to bring it with us on trips so my son can watch them on his portable DVD player. The stories are always so cute and my son watches them with a smile on his face.

Max & Ruby DVDs 5 Star Review
2008-06-22 - The product was exactly what we hoped for. It arrived earlier than expected and we are really enjoying the DVDs.

    Teachable Moments 4 Star Review
2008-06-17 - I agree with the reviewer who said that the behavior of Max does not set a good example for toddlers. I also witnessed my verbal daughter start to immitate the adorable but defiant one-word responses of Max. I told my daughter that we would not watch Max and Ruby anymore if she continued to bahave in that way. I turned these into teachable moments that gave us an opportunity to discuss appropriate vs. naughty behavior. We still enjoy the books and DVDs, but we watch them together and discuss them. Bunny Cakes is still our favorite!

Lovable, but saddly the message is negative 2 Star Review
2008-05-29 - The animation, the characters are as perfect as a Beatrix Potter novel, BUT Max is a naughty little bunny. I've read Ruby to be described as bossy, but she looks after Max and he rarely listens to a word she says. He is tricky, clever, adorable and very stubborn and hard-headed and though this rings a bell for we parents, it isn't at all a good example to sit your impressionable, bright, already challenging toddler in front of, or read to for that matter, for 1/2 an hour, more or less.

I first noticed that my 2 1/2 year old son, who speaks in full sentences, sings songs and makes up his own little stories began using those irritatingly cute, simply, one word phrases. Then my precocious, brilliant child (who already tests limits with me, his stay at home, attachment parenting, loving mother) began doing "Max" things like pretending to be Super-Max-okay, and reenacting the bath episode (though it wasn't bath-time) where Max keeps going to the fridge and getting food making quite the mess, not cool! He began saying saying NO and in his Max voice, not listening and being an all around naughty bunny than he had not been to such an extent before-not cool!!

I, unfortunately, had to rid our home of Max everything, even the plush toys. His aunt says she doesn't let her son watch either, that or whiny Caillou. I love the characters, but I really hate that he neither he nor Ruby listen to each other as much as they aught, but I do admire Ruby's patience and Max's tenacity. I do feel though that they are not productive in our home and prefer even more wholesome characters such as Little Bear, Little People, Thomas and Franklin. Good luck to all parents who care enough to read these reviews in that never ending quest to entertain our children and protect them and the values we try to instill. My kid hasn't turned into a perfect angel ( I have "Children the Challenge" and maturation/nurturing for that), and he still talks in his "Max" voice when being defiant, but I'm not endorsing it in any fashion either.
