Description of All About Steve [Blu-ray]:
A hunky TV news cameraman named Steve (Bradley Cooper, hot off of surprise hit The Hangover) gets stalked by a lonely crossword puzzle creator named Mary (Sandra Bullock, in a career resurgence after The Proposal) in the comedy All About Steve. Although only one screenwriter is credited, All About Steve feels like it's been clumsily patched together from a dozen different versions of itself. The story makes no sense and there's very little that resembles recognizable human behavior...and yet, for that very reason, the movie exerts a perverse fascination. Some parts are actually funny--Thomas Haden Church (Sideways), as a reporter hungry for an anchor position, unleashes arias of manipulative babble--but most of the movie is just baffling. The filmmakers seem to think they're sending a heartwarming message about embracing yourself, no matter how out of the mainstream you may be. Unfortunately, all of the "quirky" people come across as brain-damaged because they're not really people, they're emblems of "uniqueness." Mary is meant to be endearingly eccentric, yet her social ineptness verges on schizophrenia or severe autism. At every turn, All About Steve unintentionally reminds the viewer that someone wrote this, that someone thought this bit of behavior or this turn of phrase would somehow make us like this character or find them charming. Unfortunately, that someone was very, very off the mark. The result--seeing the bald intentions under the failed result--is a jarring yet oddly compelling experience. Also featuring DJ Qualls (Hustle & Flow) and Katy Mixon (Eastbound & Down). --Bret Fetzer

All About Steve [Blu-ray] Reviews:
Not bad, but not good
2009-12-30 - I won't say I expected a lot from All About Steve, but I expected more than what was delivered. All About Steve at times stumbles between being a cross country road comedy and a stalker fest. Are we supposed to sympathize with Mary? or detest her? Sandra Bullock plays the role of a quirky, eccentric crossword puzzle enthusiast with a knack for always wearing her red boots who becomes infatuated with a man she met on a blind date and goes cross country to follow him despite his many protests and rejections. It's a rather interesting plot, and looks like it would make a hysterical comedy on paper, but on screen at times it falls flat. It's a funny comedy netherless, but there's something about this film that isn't quite complete.
A Weird, but funny movie to add to you Blu Ray collection
2009-12-29 - Before I get started I'm going to touch base in reference to the comment poster Dove Plan posted . While All About Steve was not a sucess at the box office, it did better than Gigli. According to box office mojo, Gigli made a total gross of a little over 6 million domestically. Whereas, All About Steve made over 33 million at the box office domestically. I know that is still not that great, but it clearly wiped the floor compared to Gigl. It'a a funny, quirky, weird, awkward, nice, sweet, and strange comedy wrapped into one movie. In regards to the movie it is unbelivable, but somewhat true. I'm not going to go over what the movie is about because many people here have done that. I will say that there are women like this, that society does make fun of. You can't help, but love, feel sorry, and despise Sandra's character at the same time. It's a funny movie, but is clearly not for everyone. Nonetheless, I recommend this movie to those who don't mind crazy, weird types of comedies.
Worst Actress
2009-12-28 - Sandra Bullock has been God awful in so many films (including the surprise hit The Proposasl), but she went for broke and delivered the worst performance from an actress this year in her Gigli-sized flop All About Steve.
Give her the Razzie! She worked hard for it.
Very underrated.
2009-12-27 - I know everyone has been down on this film but it has it's funny moments. Bullock's quirky character isn't a first for her but this time she's VERY awkward. I don't know what it is about her character Mary but she's quite lovable. I won't go too much into plot since it's pretty obvious what the plot is. She's clingy and stalkerish and that's pretty much it. It's not the best movie I've seen but it's most definitely not the worst. I'd say rent it for cheap if you're really interested.
Great Sandra B.
2009-12-26 - Sandra Bullock is godd in this movie. Also, the movie arrived on time and in great condition.
