Editorial Review:
Recorded in March 2004 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas during Sarah Brightman’s Harem World Tour, this new live CD and DVD (sold separately) demonstrates the musical seductress’s penchant for fusing musical genres- musical theater, classical, rock and world music- and plays like a collection of greatest hits performed live. The DVD will be a double-disc containing the entire Las Vegas show on Disc 1 (approx. run time of 110 minutes). The show was filmed with 18 cameras and directed by world-renown David Mallet (projects include Cher, Celine Dion, Cirque du Soleil, and the Three Tenors). Sarah Brightman - Live from Las Vegas Reviews:
Sarah Brightman live from las vegas
2009-10-12 - This an excellent dvd. definetly not for the hip-hop or rap crowd. The presentation was well worth the investment. Would like to see some additional presentations by this artist. She has above average ability.
All Rise
2009-10-02 - Sometimes you can tell how good a concert is by audience response. This was the case with Sarah Brightman's Live from Las Vegas Concert. In front of a tough audience accustomed to the best in entertainment, Brightman received seven standing ovations and deserved every one of them. Just before she sang TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, a man shouted out, "I love you, Sarah." With a huge smile, she replied, "I love you, too."
What was not to love about this concert? I saw the same concert in South Florida and that night, I swear, she was in even better voice than she was in Vegas two months later. I had heard her do the classic NESSUN DORMA three years before during her La Luna Concert, but this night it was special. On the next to the last note, I felt an overwhelming compulsion that must have been felt throughout the arena, because everyone in my field of vision rose to their feet simultaneously. The outburst of applause drowned out the final note. Folks, we weren't being rude. We couldn't help it. This was a defining moment.
In addition to TIME TO SAY GOODBYE and NESSUN DORMA, other standing-ovation songs were WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER, LA LUNA, THE WAR IS OVER, WISHING YOU WERE SOMEHOW HERE AGAIN and A QUESTION OF HONOUR. Ironically, Brightman did LA LUNA better than she had in her La Luna Concert. THE WAR IS OVER was a heart-rending duet for which Brightman wrote lyrics and played the feature accompanying instrument, the piano.
What can I say about A QUESTION OF HONOUR? If you have heard Brightman sing it live, you know what I am talking about. If you haven't, you have missed an extraordinary six minutes of entertainment.
In my opinion, Brightman was more beautiful, more personable and in finer voice in this concert than in all of her previous concerts.
Love Sarah Brightman
2009-03-09 - Sarah Brightman sings like an Angel would. And as a general rule can be understood by most of her listeners. However, for those of us who are hard of hearing or deaf we really need ENGLISH closed captions for the hearing impaired, please.
This performance in Las Vegas was wonderful but because my husband is hearing impaired all he could here and feel was the music not the lyrics or any spoken words.
Ms. Brightman, please consider closed captions.
Thank you.
I would recommend this DVD to the able hearing impaired. All others will have to turn the volume up to ear bleeding decibels.
The girl can sure put on a SHOW.......
2009-03-03 - Sometimes, I get jealous because England seems to have all the really neat babes; no, that's another subject...Sarah Brightman is one of a kind...Opera meets glitz and glamour. Now, that has to be done just right, or it doesn't work. With Sarah, it works.....
This DVD represents a live concert in Vegas. Read the other reviews to see how it's done...too long a story to re-tell, but it's NOT lip-synched; Sarah is the real-deal. How the heck she manages the costume changes is beyond me, but she looks a lot better in some of those outfits than girls half her age. Of course, Vegas is used to shows, but this is a SHOW....
The individual numbers are not important; what is important is the total effect. Her CDs are wonderful, but this is a whole different dimension. I should LOVE to see her live. Sarah has grasped the point that ALL music is really entertainment...she has a great voice, AND she knows what to do with it. Pure joy. Sarah is no Ponselle, but Ponselle was no Sarah. (And, before you argue my point about entertainment, Anna Netrebko is not shy about showing off great legs on the Opera stage, either). Grab this, and enjoy the ride.......
Fabu minus one thing...
2008-12-09 - I am a HUGE Sarah Brightman fan and was so excited when this arrived, but... the only thing I don't like about this video is the lighting and I may have to return it. Very distracting. Yellows, oranges, purples, etc. I get why they are doing it. Ties in with the whole Middle Eastern thing...and it IS Vegas, but it's really annoying. It's not throughout the entire video. There are a few parts where it's "normal" stage lighting, but overall I'm not sure I can get past the crazy colors they have going on. I just want see beautiful Sarah Brightman in all her fabulousness and not with an orangey/purpley/redish glow.
