Description of Footloose (Special Collector's Edition):
Director Herbert Ross (The Turning Point) pulled a winning movie out of this almost self-consciously archetypal tale of teenage rock rebellion. Kevin Bacon stars as a hip city kid who ends up in a Bible-belt town after his parents divorce. An ill fit for a conservative community where rock is frowned upon and dancing is forbidden, Bacon's character rallies the kids and takes on the establishment. Between a good cast really embracing the drama of Dean Pitchford's screenplay, and Ross's imaginative, highly charged way of shooting the dance numbers, you can get lost in this all-ages confection, and you won't even mind Kenny Loggins's bubbly pop. Bonuses include one of John Lithgow's best performances (a bit reminiscent of Jimmy Stewart), and Christopher Penn (who sure doesn't look the same anymore) as a good-natured hick who learns to boogie. --Tom Keogh

2009-11-12 - Still good after all these years. Kevin Bacon's interview is GREAT. AWsome songs made for the movie fit in perfectly.
YES
2009-09-22 - I bought this for my mom along with the Cd after we saw the Broadway production. She had never seen the film - I know OMG .. so got her this and she loves it. It's alot of fun to re-watch it again and if you loved it growing up, it's perfect for your DVD collection and you can find good sellers who have it for a couple dollars.
Awesome Movie!
2009-09-13 - I'll say up front that this movie has a lot of profanity in it, but it paints such an amazing picture of the kind of crappy situations that kids go through at highschool that the foul language is to be expected. The bad guy is evil, the good guy is misunderstood, and the female protagonist is a rebel. There's a lot of 80's dancing and styles, but this movie is still applicable to youth today.
This film teaches well the lesson of what to do when there is an unjust rule governing your society. This movie should not encourage rebellion, although if your child is not very bright then you might consider that as good reason to restrict this movie from them.
GREAT MOVIE BUT A BIT GRAINY
2009-09-12 - Not up to HD standards but still loved and enjoyed the film.. if your a fan go and get it just dont expect the graphics and sound to blow you away..
