THE BALTIMORE-SET MOVIE OF INTERCONNECTING STORY ARCS DEALS WITH THE CHALLENGES OF READING OR MISREADING HUMAN BEHAVIOR.

Description of He's Just Not That Into You:
Based on the bestseller by two Sex and the City scribes, He's Just Not That Into You confirms that the HBO series was more than just a television show--it was a cultural institution that spawned tours, catchphrases, fashion trends, and more. Ironically, the resulting film is both smarter and funnier than the big-screen version of Carrie and the gang. Of the nine central characters, the sweet, if clueless Gigi (Big Love's Ginnifer Goodwin) makes the most vivid impression. The Maryland career girl tends to fall for friendly guys, like Conor (Entourage's Kevin Connolly), who are "just not that into" her. At a local watering hole, she meets bar manager Alex (Justin Long, Goodwin's Ed co-star), who sets her straight about the difference between what men say and what they mean, adding that there are exceptions to every rule. Her seemingly settled co-workers, Beth (Jennifer Aniston) and Janine (Jennifer Connelly), have relationship issues of their own: Beth's boyfriend of seven years, Neil (Ben Affleck), doesn't believe in marriage, and Janine's husband, Ben (Bradley Cooper), has a wandering eye... for singer/yoga instructor Anna (Scarlett Johansson). Alt-weekly ad saleswoman Mary (executive producer Drew Barrymore) provides the link between this loose-knit community. An avid Internet dater and full-time technophile, she bemoans the fact that "people don't meet each other organically anymore." At 132 minutes, Ken Kwapis's movie could use a few trims, but he brings these complicated romantic entanglements to a convincing conclusion and the confessions from random passers-by add to the laughs. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

He's Just Not That Into You Reviews:
Just not that funny 2 Star Review
2009-11-01 - First, this movie does a great job of displaying the hard truth about how desperate women are, and that sometimes a guy just isn't interested. That might be hard for some to swallow, but some people need to learn that. The movie has an all-star cast, but only a few deliver. I thought that Jennifer Aniston and the guy from the Mac commercials did a good job. However, this movie was just not funny at all. And they could really make a funny movie out of this topic. It was a big missed oppourtunity. I did not smile, laugh or chuckle at all during the entire movie. Also, it was WAY too long. It felt very dragged out and I had to force myself to watch the whole thing. I can't see how this a romantic comedy. It was more of a drama. Overall this movie was boring and wasn't funny at all. I was dissapointed and would not reccomend it.

Watchable, at best 3 Star Review
    2009-10-27 - The Bottom Line:

This ensemble romantic piece is never very funny or moving and there are a million movies out there which can generate more laughs or tears, but at the same time I couldn't bring myself to hate it; sure it has no real ambition towards being a good film and waslittle more than a mercenary attempt to get couples into theaters around Valentine's Day, but it's watchable and never mean-spirited, so if you want something stupid to watch with your date you could do worse.

    2.5/4

    great 5 Star Review
2009-10-19 - Movie arrived in just one week after order and was in excellent condition,,,will order from this company again,,also a very resonable price for a new dvd

I'm totally INTO this movie! 5 Star Review
2009-10-19 - C'mon boys and girls. How could you give this movie less than five stars, huh? This is the definitive chick flick right here at its BEST. It's got charm, wit, sweetness, enough embarrassing moments to make you fall in love twice! Yeah, it has some (just a tiny bit) educational value if you want to go there but it's a chick flick first. Just to comment on that note, I've only heard of the book and skimmed through it at the bookstore but from what I can see, the movie covers the basic truths in the book. The movie centers around the dating life of Gigi (played absolutely adorably by Ginnifer Goodwin) and then through the couples that surround Gigi. The relationships covered in the movie include: desperately dating, married, almost married, kind of dating, secretly dating and cluelessly dating. That's covered'em all, right? I'd like to comment on all the beautiful casts like the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson, rigid and hilarious (yes, she's hilarious!) Jennifer Connelly and countless others but my heart must go out to Ginnifer Goodwin and I'm woman enough to admit that I have at one time or another went through what she goes through in the movie - which, of course, made me root for her even more (Watch the movie ladies and you'll know what I'm talking about). This girl makes all the right mistakes but here's the big catch - it all ends well. And it was so satisfying to see the happy ending especially after all the turmoil and torture of dating that Gigi goes through. I'm being straight with you. I've seriously seen more romantic comedies than any other genres but I have never teared up at the end (like NEVER) until this one. Highly highly recommended to the romantists out there.

P.S. - love the clip of the '10 reasons...' up there. :) thumbs up!

What's wrong with people. 3 Star Review
2009-10-18 - Watch this movie for one reason. Because it shows desperate people who NEED to find someone constantly complain about how they can't find someone. If you watch this, and level with the characters. YOUR ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE I'M TALKING ABOUT. This movie is both cute and horrendous. It, like all movies since Amores Perros, and every movie in the last 7 years follows the same formula of, look 7 people, their lives intertwine. AMAZING. Which is more or less a good way of saying, we don't have a strong enough ensemble of characters as is, So, were just going to create a plate full of people, viewers are bound to like at least one of our 10 short stories, and the movie is great. I see it as lazy. Make 10 different movies then, but make each groups story so strong that it means something to us the viewer if their life doesn't go the way we hope it does. So, before I start cursing, I'll get back to the movie. It's cute at times. But it certainly a reflection of how sad and desperate people are these days. And I can't get much into that. I have a girlfriend, I love her, if we break up. Well, then I won't have to cook dinner for 2 anymore. What's the problem? I don't cry and overanaylze everything from this day forth in my constant need to find love and companionship. And, this movie, while at times an accurate look at life, makes me upset that people are actually like this. My advice, go rent "Love Actually." It's the better version of this movie.
