Editorial Review:
Selena Quintanilla Perez was considered by many as the first female superstar in the Tejano music industry. Yolanda Saldivar was the president of Selena’s fan club and a dedicated employee. On March 31, 1995 Saldivar shot Selena at a Corpus Christi motel causing her death from the single gunshot. The shooting left many unanswered questions.
This is a first-hand account of the trial of Yolanda Saldivar for the murder of Selena. It is a riveting, behind the scenes look at what happened before, during and after the trial as told by the man in charge of the prosecution, District Attorney Carlos Valdez.
Learn the surprising answers to all of the questions raised during the trial. You’ll sit with the prosecution team as the trial unfolds and watch, not just what was publicly seen by the spectators, but also what went on beyond the glare of the media lights.
Narrated in an easy-to-read, conversational style, by one of the principal players in this real life drama, this book is a must-read for anyone who has lingering questions about why the murder occurred in the first place. Every question will be answered.
Justice for Selena: The State vs. Yolanda Saldivar Reviews:
Justice For Selena
2008-03-14 - This is a great book. I was not able to put it down. If you are interested in what happened during the trial than I highly recommend this book. The book reveals in particular how easily the media was manipulated by the defense team and as a result the prosecution not only had to fight inside the courtroom but outside as well to find Justice For Selena.
Justice for Selena
2007-10-13 - This book is about the trial.Everything that happened at the trial, how they prepared for the trial.About everthing that was done to get Justice for Selena.I highly Recomend this book.
Justice for Selena
2006-11-06 - Excellent book, but very long. (Held my attention, but took awhile to get through it.) This is not a Selena fan book - it's strictly about the trial of her assasin. If you are interested in court proceedings, and happen to be a Selena fan, then this is a great book for you.
A Real Page-Turner...
2006-03-13 - and I'm not being sarcastic. There is nothing "new and earth-shattering" about Selena or her family; it is what it says it is - a book about the trial. What you learn, though, is how much more there really was and how differently the trial appeared to be going from the prosecutors' and, my guess is, the defense's perspectives than it was from the media's. Mr. Valdez even lets us know what happened after the trial in the appeals that Yolanda filed and why she wasn't eligible for the death penalty.
