Editorial Review:
Shakira's brand new English album She Wolf is an uptempo pop album. It is all about synthesizers and electronical concepts, all mixed with the world sounds that we are used to from Shakira, sounds from countries like India, the Middle East and her home country of Colombia. She Wolf features a predominantly English track list with a follow up album of new and unique repertoire in Spanish to come in 2010. The title track "She-Wolf"; boasts the infectious and energizing sound that made Shakira a household name, with a slightly more dancey/ electronic beat (about 125 beats per minute). Though most tracks on the upcoming album will be in English, Shakira chose to service the Spanish version of the first single, "Loba," two weeks before the English single is launched.
She Wolf Reviews:
Howls but doesn't bite.
2009-12-01 - Shakira is an artist who re-invents herself and does it right, but as anybody she can fail. I like Shakira's previous albums, I don't love her music but I enjoy it and think that she has a good voice. Even though I didn't like at all (next to lots of people) the first single of this production "She wolf/Loba", I gave the album a shot when it was released in Spain (one month before the U.S release) but I couldn't hear it all. I just couldn't stand the sounds that Shakira is making lately. I can't understand why a singer with such a great voice wastes her talent making "noises".
Her image has changed a lot and she looks better than ever but her music this time...it's not her best. I think that lots of Shakira's fans are not going to like what I'm commenting here but it's the truth and a proof of this is that she didn't get very good critics with this production and "She wolf" (single) didn't even make the Top 10 in the U.S and other territories.
Pathetic
2009-11-30 - I don't own this mainstream, sellout piece of garbage... But i've heard the entire CD. Shakira is now singing and dancing with (bad) rap stars. Its clear at this point the label has pushed her into what they want which makes her a sellout... And even if i'm wrong and this was all her idea, well then bottom line is that it still sucks.
Prefiero Español
2009-11-30 - I like Shakira, I was in Buenos Aires when she released her last album and it was kinda my soundtrack for South America. I like Shakira's Spanish better than her English though. She has good English, don't get me wrong, but I wish she hadn't sold out so much. That's what makes her unique. I love her beats. This is a great album for that, but I agree with several other reviewers, her other albums have more... uhm... soul. I'm a fan of Dónde Están los Ladrones? and Fijacion Oral vol. 1. Shakira, te amo chica, pero por favor, más español.
I am glad I got the album, no regrets. :) I do recommend it. It's fun for bellydance practice too.
Different is Good
2009-11-29 - Not like any of her other CDs, this one is certainly more "pop". But ya know what? It's infectious and fun and the lyrics are as great as ever. Rolling Stone gives it the best review of any of her CDs (4 of 5 stars) to date, and I have to agree. And at this price, what's not to love?
she wolf
2009-11-29 - I love this album more than I thought I would. I love that there is no ballads on this album because I feel like in fijacion oral it was all ballads and I didn't like it much but this album is fun, fast, and cheerful. I love it.
