Editorial Review:
Together Marty and Shiloh, through the course of startling events and playful adventures, prove a person filled with hate can be healed by the power of love. Starring Rod Steiger, Michael Moriarty and newcomer Zachary Brown.Year: 1999
Description of Shiloh 2 (DVD and Book):
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. But can a kid help an old grouch change his ways? Picking up immediately where the 1996 family favorite Shiloh left off, Shiloh 2: Shiloh Season continues the drama of a boy, his dog, and the dog's menacing original owner. Zachary Browne plays the part of Marty Preston, the young boy who rescued an abused beagle by standing up to local troublemaker Judd Travers (another convincing performance by Scott Wilson). Although Marty and Judd struck a deal, Judd seems bent on making the boy and his family pay in more ways than one for keeping Shiloh. Fueled by alcohol, Judd's suspicious character and his tendency to shoot whatever critters he pleases deeply disturb young Marty. Once again, the boy risks his own safety and exercises immense courage and compassion to turn Judd into a friend. Michael Moriarty and Rod Steiger reprise their roles as Marty's father and Doc Wallace, respectively. Because the sequel leans heavily on the original movie's plot, it loses its punch as a stand-alone show. Slightly tougher subject matter (the effects of alcoholism, in particular) warrants a slightly older audience; families with 7- to 12-year-olds should fare well. Based on the second book, Shiloh Season, in Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's popular children's trilogy. --Liane Thomas
Shiloh 2 (DVD and Book) Reviews:
Shiloh2
2008-02-09 - This title filled in our Shiloh collection. It is very good, worth the purchase
DEJA VU DOG STORY
2006-10-26 - It's heart is in the right place and the message that we must be kind even to those who won't reciprocate is admirable, but SHILOH 2 is merely a retread of the first movie, and nothing really new or truly exciting happens.
Zachary Browne takes over the role of Marty and he does a nice job. Michael Moriarty (who acts like he's having trouble moving) and Ann Dowd return as his parents; Scott Wilson returns as nasty Judd, who wants Shiloh back and who is as unlikeable as ever; and Rod Steiger and Bonnie Bartlett reprise their roles of the doctor and his wife.
I respect a movie that puts family values and doing the right thing, but as a movie, it's only mildly diverting for adults, but let the kids watch it and see a movie where rap music is unheard of.
shilo 2 season
2006-02-02 - I read the book shilo because I thought it would be a good book. And I was right it was a very good book. It was a very exiting book. I especially like the part were Shilo cmes to Marti. I like this book because I like animals. It made me kind of sad when Jud tried to hurt Shilo. I look forward to reading more Shilo books.

A Great Message Sender
2005-05-03 - I love all kinds of dogs particularly hounds and I really enjoyed watching Shiloh II Shiloh season. Not only is it a great animal movie but it teaches a great lesson how a little kindness goes a long way. Although it was good in that sense it was also a little violent which is why it's rated PG. Overall it was very pleasing to watch and to learn from.
