Editorial Review: Three years in the making, PORNSTAR PETS is the spirited and heart warming documentary by Filmmaker Margie Schnibbe. With a clever and witty eye, Ms. Schnibbe's film explores the emotional lives of 22 of the biggest Adult Film Stars through their intera Description of Pornstar Pets: Margie Schnibbe's voyeuristic documentary, Pornstar Pets, satiates our sensationalistic desires to get behind-the-scenes scoops on the lives of porn stars. Containing no bestiality or any other radical perversions, Schnibbe proves that in fact, these celebrities love and cherish their pets as much as the average Joe. Still, stars such as Ron Jeremy, explaining his lifelong love for turtles, Taylor Wayne cooking spicy shrimp for her spoiled dogs, Boo Boo and Buddy, and Kim Chambers educating the viewer on the bonding habits of sugar gliders, make for a unique film. Some stars, like Lena Ramon, who has 37 pets crammed into her small house, shine as true weirdos, making others, like Rebecca Lord, who walks her boxers daily, seem pretty normal. Pornstar Pets is more interesting for its lack of obscenity. The film's oblique approach to getting to know its subjects is highly personal, and stylistically resembles Errol Morris's amazing early works, Gates of Heaven, and Vernon, Florida. The film may dwell too long, at times, on the subjects and their beloved, but not many pet owners can blame other animal lovers for thinking that their pets are the cutest on Earth. These celebrities remind us of the healing power of animals, and their ability to cheer us up. Pornstar Pets humanizes the actors devoted to adult entertainment. --Trinie Dalton |
