Description of Iowa:
Right from the introductory shriek and grind of "(515)," you know Slipknot are deadly serious about making a real heavy metal album. Iowa is intimidating in its unforgiving heaviness. Produced to perfection by wunderkind Ross Robinson, it takes the best of Slayer as a starting point. "People = Shit," "The Heretic Anthem," and "New Abortion" are relentless and wholly brutal, but this is no mere thrash. "Disasterpiece" features a weird, hypnotic riff, while "Left Behind" comes across like a duet between Alice in Chains' Layne Staley and Slayer's Tom Araya. The rerecorded "Gently" builds slowly from industrial atmospherics to a punishing explosion of noise. The title track (also old and formerly known as "Killers Are Quiet") is a deeply unsettling heavy-metal "Midnight Rambler." Frontman Corey Taylor claims to have performed it naked and bleeding from self-inflicted wounds, which isn't hard to believe. This masterfully constructed collection is painfully raw and utterly compelling. --Dominic Wills
Iowa Reviews:
Just my oppinion
2008-08-21 - I bought this album a couple weeks after it came out. Left behind was decent, and I was really into the new metal fad going on at the time. Since then, I've gotten into black metal, death metal, deathcore, and pretty much any type of metal you can imagine. From someone who listens to it all, I have to say that first off, this can not at all be classified as numetal, secondly, I think it's probably the best album they ever did. They just wanted to put something out that was brutal and violent, and I think they did a pretty good job. Again, I'm just stating what is my opinion and hope no one thinks that I'm trying to convince people to buy it.
Possibly Slipknot's Best Album

Slip's sophmore effort.
2008-06-11 - WOW!!!
What an amazing leap forward from the debut.
This takes everything that was great about the debut and cranks it up by ten.
The anger and rage that radiates from this recording is just mind boggling.
No weak tracks on the disc.
Memorable, epic and an absolute must have for metal heads.
You must own this masterpiece!!!
HELL YEAH 666!
2008-06-05 - This album to me is not nu metal either,no rapping and just small dj crap and is just a METAL cd.This one totally blew their first album away and same with vol 3 not really nu metal just like this one, only vol 3 is the least "heaviest".And for iowa is the heaviest thing they done just plain metal and can't wait for their new album they say it will be different from slipknot but BRUTAL let's see if finally they can be called brutal.I recommend this album to any metalhead, besides many real metalheads listen to slipknot the only "nu metal" band they listen to which they don't really sound nuish ha.So get this is fast, loud, heaviesh, and just awesome it also has some death metal thing going on especially in the last song when you hear a angry growl, but yeah not there yet.SO GET IT YOU METALHEAD MAGGOTS!
THIS IS NOT NU METAL
2008-04-27 - Really what's nu metal about it only a couple of scratches and that's it.Man this album made many nu metal fans dissapointed cause really is just a "heavy brutal" album. If you want something heaviesh get this,is slipknot's best album ever the heaviest they have done and who know's how "heavy" their new album will be.Iowa is the heaviset so far better than vol 3 it has trash and some death metal going on but still not there.Trust me when you hear this it won't sound NU metal it's just a great heavy album that would make you wish slipknot sounded more like this.If someone told me if i think slipknot is brutal i would just tell them yeah in their album iowa it's heavy yeah!
