Editorial Review:
Japanese pressing of the panty wearing Nu-Metal acts 2001 studio album includes one bonus track, 'Liberate (Live)'. 15 tracks in all.
Description of Iowa:
Right from the introductory shriek and grind of "(515)," you know Slipknot are deadly serious about making a real heavy metal album. Iowa is intimidating in its unforgiving heaviness. Produced to perfection by wunderkind Ross Robinson, it takes the best of Slayer as a starting point. "People = Shit," "The Heretic Anthem," and "New Abortion" are relentless and wholly brutal, but this is no mere thrash. "Disasterpiece" features a weird, hypnotic riff, while "Left Behind" comes across like a duet between Alice in Chains' Layne Staley and Slayer's Tom Araya. The rerecorded "Gently" builds slowly from industrial atmospherics to a punishing explosion of noise. The title track (also old and formerly known as "Killers Are Quiet") is a deeply unsettling heavy-metal "Midnight Rambler." Frontman Corey Taylor claims to have performed it naked and bleeding from self-inflicted wounds, which isn't hard to believe. This masterfully constructed collection is painfully raw and utterly compelling. --Dominic Wills

Iowa
2009-09-14 - I have three copies of Iowa, since i was 13 years old, that was five years ago. I have listened to all of their albums again, and again over the years. Iowa is my favorite album by Slipknot, and is in my top favorite five albums of all time. When I first started to listen to Slipknot back in August 2004, I started out with Vol 3 The Subliminal Verses, a neighbor of mine at the time let me borrow the album for about two weeks, and when they wanted it back I didn't want to, but I did, a few days later I bought my own copy and now I have the regular version released in 2004, and the special edition with two discs in 2005. Ever since then I have been following them closely. I also have three copies of Slipknot's self titled album. I wish Slipknot would go back into the studio, and make another Iowa which I think will never happen again. They should at lest re release Iowa in 2011 when it's been 10 years since the album was released. Iowa got me into death metal, I know Iowa isn't death metal, but this album is very intense. I hope Slipknot is around for many years to come, because I personally think they are one of the best bands in metal.
Last of the Hope that is gone...period.
2009-02-09 - I previously had a review on here that ended up going awry, I got mad half way thru it and started ranting on All Hope Is Gone and how bad it sux. I felt stupid because I already did it once. So here's a better one (not to satisfy the poser that voted my review unhelpful mind you).
This album is fu**ing amazing. It's darker than the first, I wouldn't say heavier or angrier but definitley darker. Great technical work on the drums by Joey, especially on Disasterpiece which is in my opinion the best song on the album. Corey's last stand as an amazing vocalist, and the last album Clown had hardly anything to do with. Ironic, but that's as far as I'll go. Overall, if you like the 1st album then get this one.
the best album from slipknot!!!!
2009-01-19 - This is the best album Slipknot has ever made. Every song is incredible. and it was the last good album they made too. personally, unless they were to have mad a similar sound to Iowa, they could ahve stayed, but since they had released Vol. 3, they should have quit. I absolutely loved Iowa, and i used to listen to it all the time. but then their last two albums came out and i stopped a little bit. i jsut can't believe how good this album was put together. it's AWESOME!!!!!
LOVE THIS CD
2009-01-13 - IM A LONG TIME SLIPKNOT FAN AND THIS CD IS BY FAR ONE OF THEIR BEST
