Slipknot, the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning, hard rock enigma, will release the DVD VOLIMINAL: INSIDE THE NINE. A special double disc package, VOLIMINAL: INSIDE THE NINE takes the viewer on a several hour journey into the world of Slipknot as the band recently circled the globe in support of the multi-platinum album VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES). Far from your usual tour film, VOLIMINAL: INSIDE THE NINE is more of an art piece -- while fans are taken in the studio, on stage, backstage, on their tour bus and everywhere in between as they experience the energy of a band literally living, breathing and fighting for the music they created, none of it unfolds in ways you'd expect.

Description of Voliminal: Inside the Nine:
If it has anything to do with the metal marauders from Des Moines, it can't possibly be nice or sweet. To quote singer Corey Taylor, also known as #8, "Being in Slipknot is a lot like having cysts removed from your body. It's gotta be done and... at the end of the day, it feels really, really good." Product of percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Voliminal may not be the digital equivalent of a dermatological procedure, but his scattershot approach won't be for everybody. It isn't a concert film or documentary, but rather an impressionistic look at the group on the road with frequent Ring-type special effects. The feature takes up the first disc, while the second consists of nine live tracks recorded in Europe and Japan, interviews with each band member, and five videos from the Rick Rubin-produced Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses. Although the Iowa rockers don horror movie masks for most public appearances, they make an exception for these candid conversations (not including sampler/keyboard player Craig "133" Jones). Also, though it looks cool, the menus consist of graphics rather than text, so it can take a little trial and error to figure out what's what. As a film, Voliminal may be pretty shapeless, but Maggots, i.e. the Slipknot faithful, are sure to find interest here, especially in the second disc. Casual fans, however--if there is such a thing--should begin their journey "inside the nine" with concert film/video collection Disasterpieces. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

    Voliminal: Inside the Nine Reviews:
Slipknot rules, This dvd doesn't! 2 Star Review
2009-06-08 - There other dvds blow this one away! The menu is wierd to figure out at first, The interviews tell us nothing. The live footage is bizarre. The space in between is exactly that. It gives me a headache to watch! I know that was probably what clown was going for but it doesn't make it any easier on the eyes! I own all there other dvds and would recommend one of them above this one

for the fans 5 Star Review

SLIPKNOT- VOLIMINAL INSIDE THE NINE 5 Star Review
2008-11-19 - GOOD DVD, AN INSIGHT INTO LIFE ON THE ROAD AND BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE 9 PIECE BAND FROM IOWA, DOUBLE DISC, VALUE FOR MONEY HAS THE SINGLES VIDEOS AND CONCERT FOOTAGE A MUST FOR ANY SLIPKNOT FAN (MAGGOT)

This is Awful! 1 Star Review
2008-08-21 - This thing really stinks. It opens with a man urinating into a toilet. Later, a guy gets drunk and starts puking. Who needs to see that? The live footage was shot by Shawn Crahan onstage. It should have been done professionaly like on Disasterpieces, a much better DVD. No insight is provided here about the band, what their lives are like on the road, etc. Stay away from this.

Why did I watch this? 1 Star Review
2008-03-06 - Being from Iowa and in middle school when Slipknot first hit big I have loved everything they have done. So, now I am in college and going to a school right outside of Des Moines and I still have been supporting all they have done. So, when I was driving around one day and heard the local radio station was going to show this in a theatre the day it came out and only doing one show, I thought I just had to go. I went and spent twenty dollars and was beyond excited to be able to see it. So, I show up and see that there really is no one there and I was blown away. It's the Knot's home town, why is no one here? Well I soon realized exactly why no one wanted to watch it. This is absolutley terrible. I thought about getting up and leaving multiple times. The only thing that kept me there was the scene where the crowd rushed the stage and went crazy. I don't know for sure but I think it is from show in Council Bluffs that I was actually at and it was awesome to see. Sure showed them to try and charge Knot fans different prices to see em. So the movie was a waste of time and twenty dollars I should have just bought the thing so atleast I could find something to do with the movie and not be left with nothing.
