Description of The Wash:
This casual comedy stars hip-hop maestros Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, who are also all over the movie's soundtrack. Dee Loc (Dogg) works at a car wash but makes more money selling pot on the side. When his roommate Sean (Dre) gets a job as assistant manager at the wash, Sean finds himself caught between his tyrannical boss (the ever-blustery George Wallace) and his friend. But the plot isn't really the point--The Wash is a loose, ambling collection of off-hand jokes, character portraits, and girls in tight clothes, much in the same vein as Friday or I Got the Hook-Up. Cameos include Shaquille O'Neal, Ludacris, Pauly Shore (as a mob victim tied up in a car trunk), and Eminem. Writer-director DJ Pooh also plays a dimwitted kidnapper and has some of the funniest bits. --Bret Fetzer
The Wash Reviews:
Funny as hell!
2009-01-28 - If you have a sense of humor you will like this movie : ). You have to understand hood dialogue and how ignorant street cats act( just like real life) LOL. Its just a dumb and stupid movie that will make you laugh. If you liked Friday you should like this movie too. If not lighten up and live a little!!!
Classic Movie
2008-01-12 - The Wash is an all time classic hood flick. If your analyzing it too much then your probably not meant to understand it. Paix!
So much potential.... :-( wasted
2007-06-13 - I just finished watching this on cable and I was really disappointed. I had high hopes after finding out it was similar to the old Car Wash movie - which I love and highly recommend - and then I saw that Snoop and Dre were in it... then it just wasn't that funny or really even attention holding.
I recommend the Friday Trilogy, Little Man (which was a surprise!), and the OG-triple-OG Car Wash with Richard Pryor for some really funny stuff.
Be Prepared To Laugh
2007-03-27 - Written and directed by DJ Pooh - who also plays Slim - the comedy features Dr. Dre (Sean) and Snoop Dogg (Dee Loc) as friends who have had bad breaks and made some poor choices, but stumble upon one last opportunity to get things together under some very bizarre circumstances.
The cast is heavy into hip-hop, with Xzibit, Eminem, Kurupt and Truth Hurts having parts big & small. Other actors include Pauly Shore, Tommy Chong, Shaq and George Wallace (as car wash owner, Mr. Washington).
The action mostly takes place at a car wash in Los Angeles, with Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg being a surprisingly good comedic duo. And Eminem - as the fired assistant manager with major issues - is hilarious in his brief appearance.
It is a wacky plot with over-the-top scenes and actors who are obviously having a blast. The editing sometimes makes following the plot a bit choppy, but that criticism can be directed at many comedies. The Wash is good for a few laughs and does not take things too seriously.
Pretty Good
2007-03-21 - The Wash is pretty good. It features artists such as Ludacris, Eminem, and Xzibit.
