Editorial Review:
"DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT," the lead single and video from R&G RHYTHM & GANGSTA: THE MASTERPIECE was produced by the Grammy Award winning production duo of The Neptunes and features Pharrell. Snoop teams up with The Neptunes on multiple tracks on R&G, and continues to maximize his chemistry with them as displayed on his recent hit "Beautiful."

Description of R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece:
Considering that most Golden Era rap talents birthed by Dr. Dre have ridden off into the sunset--or are simply much less active and relevant in 2004--it's somewhat surprising that Snoop keeps churning out the hits like it was 1993. Make no mistake, Snoop's raps are still very much gangsta, as the title of the disc implies and as "Bang Out" clearly outlines. They're just a bit more adult-contemporary gangsta now. Despite the heavy pro-pimp overtones, the Doggfather's smoothed-out timbre and flow mask the harshness of his regressive views. The exceptional production throughout is highlighted by the Neptunes' contributions, from the catchy, minimalist "Drop It Like It's Hot" all the way to the '80s retro-funk jam "Let's Get Blown." Steady vocal contributions from funk stalwart Charlie Wilson (Gap Band) and 50 Cent, and nasty beats supplied by everyone from the Alchemist to Hi-Tek put this one over the top. --Dalton Higgins

R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece Reviews:
5 Star 5 Star Review
2008-04-17 - This album is great. The best he's done in a long time. I listen to it all the time .I can honestly say I like every song on this album. The best hip hop album in a long time. If you like this you will love his close pals Devin new CD Smoke Session Vol. 1Smoke Sessions, Vol. 1

Snoop gets his groove on 4 Star Review
2007-10-22 - Since Snoops debut I haven't really enjoyed one of his CD's as much as this one The Masterpiece. This is a transition work in that it has some of the old style rap intermingled with his new direction Rythem and Blues. Some of these songs are classic and some of them are not. Its like driving in a lowrider when the transmission is slipping but when Snoop hits the track "Fresh Pair of Panties on" it's smooth sailing from then on,no potholes. His new CD "The Blue Carpet Treatment" is the result of this transistion, it is filled with more R&B and less hard core rap Grooves. Yes Snoop, your growing up man when you can poke fun at the big bad Wolf Suge Knight on your new Cd.

Its R&B 4 Star Review
2007-06-19 - I think the reason people dont like this album is because its not classic Snoop. Its not even rap. The album is mostly R&B. People bought this expecting rap and they got rythm and blues. If you like R&B, then this album is dope. I think he really accomplished what he was trying to do and that is fusing hardcore rap with R&B. Personally I like the sound.

good hip hop 3 Star Review
2006-11-17 - I'm not really a snoop fan but so many years have passed since his debut album and he's still around so he must be doing something right. And every now and then there would be a song of his that I would be digging and be going to myself "oh it's him again" year after year LOL drop it like it's hot was the big hit here, it was so weird that you had to love it! I think snoop and pharell's collaboration worked like a charm and became a huge hip hop hit that year, probably one of snoop's well known songs in his catalogue. Beautiful was always on the radio too and had a marvin gaye like sound to it

F*ck This 1 Star Review
2006-10-15 - Okay so 1 star might seem a little harsh but this album is terrible. Believe it or not I am a fan of Snoop Dogg but this album is just garbage. Snoop Dogg's lyrics are stupid, the guest appearances are terrible, the beats are a joke, rubbish. This is what Ja Rule wishes his album was like and this is truly Snoop Dogg at his worst. Is it just me or does he just get worse with every album? Oh and while i'mn still here why does everyone think this is his best album? You'll notice that everyone who says that's favourite song is always something like Drop It Like It's Hot or Signs. If you prefer cheesy pop to quality rap than chances are you'll say this is his best album.
