Editorial Review:
Handsome advertising executive Tomas "Papi" Fuentes (Eduardo Verastegui) is truly, deeply in love?with three gorgeous women in three different cities. There's prim-and-proper Patricia (Jaci Velasquez) in New York, lovely Lorena (Roselyn Sanchez) in Chicage, and spicy Cici (Sofia Vergara) in Miami. But when all three arrive in L.A. to surprise Papi at home, the situation doesn't just heat up, it explodes! Filled with beautiful bodies, hip Latin rhythms and plenty of passion, Chasing Papi will leave you cheering!
Description of Chasing Papi:
A breezy exercise in "Latina Lib," Chasing Papi is a premarital variant of The First Wives Club, with enough jiggle to compete with Charlie's Angels and Victoria's Secret. The sexy fun begins when well-meaning Latino lover Tomás (Eduardo Verastegui) is confronted by the three girlfriends he's been wooing while traveling on business: Miami cocktail waitress Cici (Sofia Vergara), New York heiress Patricia (Jaci Velasquez), and Chicago attorney Lorena (Roselyn Sanchez) have discovered Tomás's infidelity, and they're primed for payback. Their romantic revenge involves a contrived subplot of drug money, inept criminals, and a gorgeous FBI agent (Lisa Vidal), but it's the allied girlfriends who steal this dim-witted fashion show. The female costars (all veterans of Spanish-language soap operas) are smart, sassy, and incredibly attractive, and director Linda Mendoza (herself a TV graduate, making her feature debut) keeps the comedy on an even, good-natured keel. The laughs are sporadic at best, but Chasing Papi is a bubbly babe-fest that either gender can appreciate. --Jeff Shannon
Chasing Papi Reviews:
good entertainment...
2009-04-16 - i watched this movie in the beginning solely for jaci velaquez...jaci is one of the hottest christian/ latina singers to come along in the last ten years or so....jaci plays "patrcia" ( what else ? ) a good girl...and she did a good job...the film overall was a pleasant surprise...jaci, along with sofia vergara as " cici " a bartender with an impressive set of chi chis....and roslyn sanchez as lorena...the bookworm feminist type...all the women are involved with the same guy...tomas ( eduardo verastigui) but the all live in different cities...until one day the ladies decide to come to l.a. to surprise him...all of the women are hot and very talented...once cici, patricia and lorena meet up in l.a....the film becomes a screwball comedy...lisa vidal plays a sandra bullock-esque federal agent who is also chasing papi and using him as bait, to lead her to some stolen money in an interesting sideplot...the story gets better when its shifts from tomas and focuses on the three women and becomes a female empowerment film...as for the ending...i won't give it away, but it was a real ending...this was one of those movies that got mixed reviews...although its a latino movie...people of any race will relate to it...its one of those movies that did so so in theatres but better on video....

2008-07-31 - OH Yes I watched "Chasing PAPI dvd on TV very funny good movie my enjoy!!!!

Full of disparate situations, but an ok film
2008-02-12 - This movie is ok. Sofia Vergara, Jaci Velazquez and Roselyn Sanchez do a pretty good job in the performances as 3 women that realize they are all dating the same guy, Eduardo Verastegui (who knew absolutely no English before this movie started). The movie is full of inside jokes (Roselyn Sanchez' character being confused as a beauty queen when in real likfe Sanchez was a Miss Puerto Rico Petite) and spanglish worlds. The humor, very much like Hispanic sitcomes, is full of ridiculous and disparate situations. I kinda liked the movie, especially cause Eduardo Verastegui was in it.
