Murder on the Dance Floor Reviews:
A GREAT CD
2009-10-10 - The song "Murder On The Dancefloor" is a very great song with drums, violins and guitars and wonderfull singing by Sophie. The Lyrics are perfectly written and the Singing and Instrumentle go so perfectly together and are both so perfectly done it creates this sensational song. I would recomend this song to anyone who is a fan of Sophie or anyone who likes pop music.
The second song "Never Let Me Down" is also a very great song. It is very Optimistic and Happy. It has a different feel from "Murder On The Dancefloor" but is equally as good.
Murder On Dancefloor (Parky and Birchy Remix) is a good remix. It's very grrovy.
Murder On The Dancefloor (Video) is superb. I absolutley Love this Music Video, in my opinion it is the best music video ever created. It's set on a Dancefloor at a dance competition with Sophie and her partner doing some pretty cool dancing but the other contestants are doing some really spectacular moves. Sophie knows that she can't compete with them so she sabotage's the other contestant's.
I absolutely Loved this CD, everything on it was just brilliant.
my favorite single of the year
2002-12-20 - Sophie rules. You won't find a more catchy, ruthless dance pop record all year. Kylie - get out of the way.
Bring it to America!
2002-10-10 - I also discovered Sophie Ellis Bextor while in Europe this summer (2002). She was all over the radio in the French Riviera, and the MOTD track is super infectious ... I wish they played it on the radio and in clubs here. Oh well.
Not the remix
2002-07-14 - I couldn't wait to get this CD. I saw the video in Germany and fell in love with Sophie. First track: As expected--colorful synthesizers and a great disco beat. Second track: a bit futuristic, which is why some consider her to be "electronica" instead of pop. Third track: The first minute is good. It builds and builds into--nothing. The synthesizers seem to be less prominent in this version. In the middle of the song is a repetitous saxaphone and trumpet lick and a walking beat that doesnt enhance Sophie, but overtakes her. If you dont like that part, you may not like track 3. Fourth track: What I thought would be an audio verion on the video, turned out to be THE VIDEO ON CD ROM!!!!! While I was disappointed with the remix version in track 3, the video version more than makes up for it. It would have been 5 stars if I liked the remix. If you havent seen the video, I would definitely suggest getting this CD. Im thrilled to have a copy of it.
Fun song, great video!
2002-06-08 - I recently became familiar with Sophie Ellis Bextor while travelling in Italy, where "Murder on the Dancefloor" (MOTD) is always on the radio, TV, and being played at the disco. MOTD is witty and memorable...a fine showcase for S.E.B.'s disco diva voice and wry style. The video on this disc is in Quick Time format (self-installing player software included, if you don't have it already), and is the main reason I chose this single. It's a great little video. The concept is a ballroom dance contest that S.E.B. will do anything to win (including murder).
