Hear my thoughts 1 Star Review
2002-08-24 - Iv'e seen Macross Plus and was amazed at how a story seemingly basic became a story of great expectations. But Macross 2 isnt even worth the title. It has barely any connection to the original and how many times have we heared this same plot about aliens taking on the offensive with the goal of crushing the Human race. They couldn't at least make it seem interesting. The graphics took a major downfall with this sequel. The creators of this sequel put in alot of music like the original but uninspiring it was. This movie has little value at all. Anyone could make the story better using the same plot including me. The original was spectacular a film but the sequel, well should I even call it a sequel. A film is meant to be invisioned by its creators, the makers of this sequel just wanted to make a sequel for a great story and what they made is a major dissapointment. The creators of this story had no vision except to finish a movie sequel that should have never been made. its not even one star its worth a five, minus five that is!

Respect the Differences 5 Star Review
2001-05-30 - In the movie, Macross II, the aliens try to destroy the earth because they fear that the earth's culture is dangerous to them, and don't want to be "contaminate" by foreign culture. Realizing that their action was wrong, they turned away from their violent action and make peace with the earth.

Many foreigners live in the United States. They are Asians, Europeans, or Hispanics. When they move to the U.S., they bring their own cultures with them. I, myself, is an Asian and I know many differences between the U.S. culture and Asian culture. My parents and I had some conflict with other people because of it. It is very important for us to respect the different cultures around us. We all are different and we can learn many things from each other.

Close to 5 stars anyway. 5 Star Review
2001-05-24 - First off, I will admit that I am not a huge anime fan. I can deal with it. In fact not many people I know are huge anime fans, but I decided to give this a shot because I thought the cover looked cool and I like science fiction. From the get go I sat in my chair totally amazed. Here in front of me was perhaps the most imaginative and intriging movie I had seen in a long time. It took me back to the days when I was a kid in the mid-1980s watching Voltron (the best animated series anytime, anywhere) and the show which followed it which I believe might have been Robotech. Anyway back to the review. The battle sequences were fast, realistic and brutal. the characterization was up there with the best and the bad guys were really bad. It was really, really good. The soundtrack also added a lot to the movie. So for anyone who is looking for something new, imaginative and just plain good and is getting a littletired of Disney, then I suggest giving this movie a shot.

The best annimation yet filled with intelligent scenes. 5 Star Review
2001-04-05 - Macross II is one of the best movie I've seen so far. Its filled with intense action and political scenes. For those who say its not a good movie, trust me they're wrong. I'm not a die hard Macross fan, but the first time I saw this movie I fell in love with it. Some people critize it because they probably don't understand the movie, or they're just accostomed to simple childish annimation. This movie is not for the ones who watch Saturday morining cartoons.

The movie itself shows the corruption the military is under and how week and unstable they have become. Thinking that they are the most powerful and unchallenged by any other race. But this time they face a new enemy, one more powerful and cunning. This movie deals a lot about the diverse culture earth has ,and the risk it faces by the aliens who are trying to destroy it. Buy this movie, you wouldn't be sorry, its a scientific possible movie except for one two things, but you'll know what i'm talking about

Macross II: The Movie 1 Star Review
2001-01-07 - Unless you are a huge Macross fan, avoid this one. My son, who up until this viewing had never met an anime' he didn't like, walked out about halfway through this one. I *forced* myself to watch it. The animation is sub-par, the plot is incoherent and the voice acting (English-dubbed version) is a pain to the ears. You will read here the 5 star "allegience" ratings given by the Macross purists, but save your money and get Macross Plus. Like any form of art, anime' has it's low end. Macross II: The Movie teeters on a very delicate precipice from the falling into the "bottom of the barrel".
