  • Editorial Review:
Three high school students find themselves drawn into a plot to turn humans into metamorphic monsters or "Zoanoids" in this 1989 OAV, based on Yoshiki Takaya's manga. Sho Fukamachi finds a lost "control metal" that transforms him into the super-warrior Guyver via a mecha suit derived from alien DNA. With his friends Tetsuro and Mizuki and the mysterious Guyver III, Sho fights an increasingly nasty series of Zoanoids created by the Chronos corporation: hands get ripped off, holes are blown and punched through bodies, and blood sprays everywhere. The character designs recall Ronin Warriors (1989), and the plot of a sinister corporation trying to take over the world through illegal bio-technical experiments has become a standard in the intervening years. Two live-action films were also based on Guyver. (Rated 13 and older but more appropriate for 15 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, profanity, brief nudity) --Charles Solomon

The Guyver - Bio-Booster Armor, Vol. 1 Reviews:
    Awesome 5 Star Review
2009-12-23 - The Guyver is one of the best anime I have ever watched. Be careful when buying the second one, make sure it says Bio-Booster Armor or else you will have episodes that do not match up.

    Great DVD! 5 Star Review
2009-03-13 - I bought this item used, but it was like it was right off the shelf. I am a big fan of this series and to have the DVD in such mint condition was awesome. Great seller and I recommend them.

Give and Take. 3 Star Review
2005-12-20 - All in all, the DVDs are BAD my friends. The opening sequence is completely cut from the episodes, and replaced with this awful clip sequence of cuts from variouse episodes. It's not even a song, and it just makes you want to cringe. To make it worse, the Chapter cuts are done so badly, you can't even skip the bad opening without cutting in a quarter of the way through the episode. And the extra features are minimal if any.

But, all in all, if this is the only way to GET Guyver on DVD, then it is a sacrifice that must be made. Aside from the few minor edits to the actual anime, it's still all there (even if you have to go looking through the extra features for episode 12.) If you don't want to keep rewinding through three episodes on your collection of 4 low quality VHSs, get it. Just be prepared to hit the Fast Forward as oppose to the skip on your remote.

A dream come true 5 Star Review
2005-06-12 - Back then, in 1994, I only had the second episode on VHS. I also had the second movie, which I thought was one of the greatest movies with the greatest fight scenes. Years later, at a local store, I was just looking around, not planning to buy jack. Then, SMACK! It was right there in my face. The actual Guyver anime. I thought it was only a single episode, so I looked at the back. OMG! Six holy episodes! Not as planned, I begged to my parents if I could buy it. At home, I watched through the whole DVD only skipping the theme songs before every episode (which is pretty annoying). A week later, deja vu, only it was Vol. 2. Trust me, you'll go to heaven if you see this! Listen, you'll know it's cool after I say this: "He's immortal! One time, he dies for getting his control metal jacked. Next episode, he comes back (I ain't spoiling how he does)and kills a whole building of zoanoids!" Blood! Explosions! Gore! Cussing!

You like that stuff? Get this and rekanize!

a cool cartoon but not a masterpiece 4 Star Review
2004-07-30 - Guyver is about a boy named Sho Fukamachi who accidently comes across one of three units known as the guyvers unbeknownst to him the evil chronos corporation and it's army of alienic bio weapons known as the zoanoids are in pursuit. The guyver is the most powerful of zoanoids chronos lost when a rogue zoanoid steals them and chronos will do anything to retrieve the guyver units. It is a good action packed cartoon one that is fun to watch on a saturday afternoon it is rather violent but not so much so that it takes away from the story. I liked it because the action and characters were awesome and the plot was in my opinion rather innovative. This is a must see for true anime fans.
