With the galaxy's best-selling tour guide and a good towel, earthling Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect (actually from planet Betelgeuse) are transported, among other places, to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe and back to the beginning of time.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Reviews:
Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. 5 Star Review
2009-12-17 - Timeless comedy of the very clevr variety. Unlike the movie which was hopeless, this series is absolutely brilliant.

    Wonderful... 5 Star Review
2009-11-29 - Having had the VHS I was eager to get the DVD for the extras. So let us make sure I focus on the two - first on the episodes itself, than on the extras.
The episodes, the HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy, is of course brilliant. Everything from towels, to the Book's Voice, to the aliens and special effects are wonderful. Not just for the time they were made and produced, but even today. I find the episodes a delight to watch and can't help feel that people who don't like the show are just looking for things to nitpick.
The extras. Well, they have one behind the scene feature, a add-on to the behind the scene feature, then lots of extras in the form of raw footage which were the sources of the features. Frankly, most of the information and interviews could, mostly likely, be seen in other sources - books, YouTube, websites - so on.
In other words, unless your VHS tape is going bad, I would suggest holding off on getting the DVD. Its not that it is bad, it is just not worth getting it until you really need to. The extras are nice but not really worth tossing your tape away, unless you can find it a new home, to replace it with a DVD.

    Cannot miss!!! 5 Star Review
2009-04-20 - I'll be honest... It was a PBS marathon that got me hooked on this show... the books... the movie... It's smart, funny, and is beyond all time frames. I am telling you that if you like British comedy, it's a must see... If you like comedy, it's a must see... Oh, come on! JUST SEE IT!!!

    Mediocre Adaptation 3 Star Review
2007-04-16 - I got these episodes of the BBC production from a friend when it came out. I found it very disappointing. Having loved the books, I found it to be rather flat. Very true to the books as some would say, but no life of its own. The actors all look like what I expected, probably too much so - especially Trillian. The portrayal of Ford Prefect was particularly bad as the actor tried to change how he said things, but only made it worse.

That said, Arthur Dent was excellent, Simon Jones was great, as always, as the "the book", although the graphics during his voice-overs were pretty blah. Overall, its OK, but falls way below most of the rest of the Hitchhiker's adaptations - IMHO.

    nostalgic 5 Star Review
2007-04-12 - I watched the whole series on TV and now I can watch it all again. It is just like going back in time saying to myself "don't panic" this DVD is a wonderful nostalgic journey. I am very happy with my purchase and the DVD is crisp in picture and sound and I love the extras section as well.
