Editorial Review:
Compact Selection of Great Early Hits from the Former Boy Wonder of the Keyboard and Resident Genius of Berry Gordy's Motown Records.
Description of Stevie Wonder - The Definitive Collection:
Like the Beatles' The Beatles 1, this rundown of Stevie Wonder chestnuts is merciless in cutting a huge list of classic tracks down to a single disc's worth of the most recognizable. Anyone who's treasured even one or two of these songs and yet never bought a Wonder record will be more than pleased with the acquisition of The Definitive Collection. These records continue to ring with importance and history, but more important, all except two or three remain fresh and capable of surprising even veteran fans. Those listeners may note, though, that Wonder is among the few performers who could release a retrospective containing 15 No. 1 R&B hits and still invite the complaint that the album felt incomplete--not least in explaining how the man transformed himself from a multitalented teenage hitmaker into the funk-pop visionary of Talking Book, Innervisions, and Songs in the Key of Life. --Rickey Wright
Stevie Wonder - The Definitive Collection Reviews:
Stevie Wonderful
2008-06-04 - This is a great CD with all of Stevie's solid hits, with the exception of "Isn't She Lovely". This was the only disappointment for me. Every other song is a step in the musical history of this great artist.
Stevie Wonder - The Definitive Collection
2008-05-14 - I am a big fan of Stevie Wonder but I don't entirely agree with what songs make up the Definitive Collection.
Wish artists were still producing this level of excellence
2008-01-25 - Weren't those the days? When artists wrote great songs. They don't write like that these days. Wish they still did. Awesome collection of his classics.
A must-have CD
2008-01-13 - I've never considered myself a Steve Wonder fan, but I absolutely love this CD! I never get tired of listening to it. Honestly, I didn't realize how many of his songs I liked until I got this collection. You won't be disappointed.
Yeah!
2008-01-12 - Track One features a young Stevie performing live. It is was a GREAT unexpected surprise. I hadn't ever heard it before. If you're a Stevie fan, then you HAVE TO add this to your collection. It is the DEFINITIVE COLLECTION after all!
