2003-06-28 - I liked the movie, so sue me : )
This is a powerful soundtrack, with a blend of rock/metal, and classical music. Both accompany each other very well! The large fight scenes have guitars rocking on, it makes me wanna get up and jump into the screen.
There isn't one piece of music that I didn't like.
Deep Freeze 9 was great, adn End titles were very, "royal" sounding.
Bad Movie, Great Soundtrack!
2001-05-06 - Okay, so the movie was horrible. I was so busy laughing that I didn't pay any attention to the music. And then a few weeks later, I got a chance to listen to the soundtrack. When I heard Track 1: Kull the Conqueror, I was blown away! This track is intense! It starts off slow, with orchestral instruments, then the guitars kick in at just the right moment. This song is perfectly composed, conducted, and executed. In fact, I think that Joel Goldsmith put most of his effort and creative ability into this one song. This means, of course, that the rest of the album is lacking by comparison, but it still manages to retain some of the epic feel of the first track. Track 9: Deep Freeze and Track 13: Saving Zereta are also quite good, and it is very difficult not to get extremely excited when listening to these songs. As for the remaining tracks, they are perhaps a bit slower, but still well composed and highly enjoyable. I recommend this album highly to anyone who enjoys listening to epic fantasy-type music. Of course, such people usually listen to this type of music in secret (myself included), as it is usually perceived by the masses as being rather cheesy.

2000-06-03 - In big words at the top of the original Kull movie poster were two words: "KULL ROCKS". And judging from this soundtrack, that's a pretty accurate description. (Never mind the fact that while watching this movie, I couldn't help but see Hercules on the screen instead of Kull; damn you, Sam Raimi!) It's a rarity (at least, it was when this movie came out) to hear an orchestra over hard rock guitar riffs, and Joel Goldsmith does a good job blending the two. Most of the music is pretty standard fantasy-type stuff, but when the guitars and drums kick in, it got my blood pumping. My personal favorite tracks are "Kull's Initiation" and "Ship Brawl". "Deep Freeze" (the main battle music) is a standout as well. So does Kull rock? On some tracks...well, just read the title of the review.
