Better then Scary Movie 2009-09-25 - I actually liked this better then Scary movie and then found out it actually was in production first too and got kinda screwed when Scary Movie came out first. This parody reminds me more of the original horror parody Student Bodies from the early 80's then the more raunchy Scary Movie did. These types of movie always have people that love or hate them so I am not surprised by the vastly different reviews on it.
great stuff 2009-08-14 - These kind of movies always have the most interesting reviews because one person can find them completely pointless and yet insanely hilarious, while another person can think these kind of comedies are absolutely horrible and that the writers missed every joke entirely.
I fall under the first category. There's absolutely NO point trying to follow along to any kind of storyline while watching a movie like this- just laugh at the fact the writers came up with ways to make fun of other more popular movies (from comedy to drama to horror) and found a way to make an entire comedy film out of the main ideas from those movies.
That's what Shriek is all about. A killer goes around killing teens, but... he's probably the silliest, dumbest, craziest killer in the whole wide world, haha.
This movie especially likes to make fun of the suspense hit I Know What You Did Last Summer, when that movie was a huge hit back in the day.
The cast of characters in Shriek is wonderful too. Another reason these kind of comedies are so good is because *so* many jokes are fired off at once you can return again and again and discover more. I won't pretend like this is some kind of incredibly important step forward for the comedy genre- it's just an extremely silly movie with one funny joke after another.
Perfect Comedy!!! 2009-02-18 - You need to have a great sense of humor like me in order to appreciate this movie! It's extremely funny that spoofs Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer! When The Killer kills Screw Frombehind, everyone becomes weary. The next day at Bulimia Falls High School, Dawson enrolls and gets picked on because he's the new kid. He soon becomes friends with Slab, Bonner, Martina, and Barbara. They run into Hagitha Utslay, the annoying news reporter. Doughy, a mall cop and Barbara's brother hangs out with Hagitha the whole day, trying to find the killer. They all receive death threats from The Killer. During school, The Killer stalks each one of them in a hilarious way. Since it's Friday the 13th and HALLOWEEN on the same day, they all decide to go to an abandoned house with no adult supervision. During the night, hilarious situations ensue, like a Pop-up Video/Scooby-Doo style chase scene. If you love spoofs, you'll love SHRIEK IF YOU KNOW WHAT I DID LAST FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!
so bad 2007-12-04 - This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I paid 4 dollars for a used copy, and I think I overpaid by about 10 dollars. I feel that the makers of this movie owe me 6 dollars for wasting my time. I will never get those two hours I spent watching this movie back. The acting was terrible, the effects were terrible, the movie was terrible. I usually like stupid teen movies, but this one was too much even for me. It was a waste of time and money. DO NOT buy this movie; if you do, believe me, you will be angry with yourself not only for wasting your time and money, but also for not listening to this review.
