Editorial Review:
A great caddy doesn't just carry clubs; he's a coach, scout, therapist, and friend all-in-one. Playing a round with a great caddy can help any golfer stay focused, hit better, and score lower. Golf at the Top with Steve Williams presents the ultimate in caddy insights from the most successful caddy of all time.
Written by the caddy to the number one golfer in the world, this book tells how to get into a cycle of constant improvement and ride that cycle to lower and lower scores. Developed during his years of caddying for the world's top golfers, Williams offers quick tips for immediate gain along with a full mind-training regimen for reaching a state of confidence and concentration that will rewrite any golfer's scorecard.
Golf at the Top with Steve Williams: Tips and Techniques from the Caddy to Raymond Floyd, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods Reviews:
Proof Reading
2009-11-20 - Since I received my copy of the book, I haven't read it in detail yet, but am getting there. I do tend to skim, then read.
One thing I did notice is that a photo of Ray Floyd, Steve Williams and Arnold Palmer is captioned "Ray Floyd, Steve and The Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus". I am sure that Arnie and Jack aren't impressed by the proof reader.
One of the things that I am always skeptical about with these types of books is that it will be a rehash of that which has gone before, many times. Refreshingly, Steve Williams, or his editors, have take the time to create an entertaining read that is targetted at all golfers, from the weekend hacker like me who desperately wants to shave a few strokes off the handicap, to those who are comfortable with their game but require a few 'tweaks'.
Golf at the top
2008-08-23 - Excellent book with through coverage of the mental approach a golfer needs in the quest for success.
Golf at the Top with Steve Williams, an excellent book....
2007-02-03 - This book by New Zealand highest paid sportsperson is imformative technically as well as giving insight to the use of the top two inches of the human body with regard to all sprorts and life in general. A very recommended read for all, not just golf nutsd......
Well Done!
2007-01-06 - Book arrived in excellent condition in a timely fashion. Pleasure to do business with.
It Ain't About Cleaning Clubs
2006-06-24 - Let's see, you take one caddy from New Zealand who dropped out of high school, add an unknown business / political writer from New Zealand and you get one of the most powerful sports psychology books ever written. Yeah, that makes sense.
I don't know what I was expecting when I bought the book, but I certainly was not expecting to be writing a tribute.
I was stunned not only at the content but also the delivery. Although this book is written in a way to be assimilated by just about anyone, the value of the content in this book will be appreciated more by those who understand the importance and the difficulty of being able to construct the condition of lasing mental activities needed to ensure the success of each shot under tournament pressure.
I suppose that a downside might be that those who are not already familiar with the value of meditation (essentially those who would stand to benefit the most from this book) could easily overlook some of the most important, but subtle, threads in the focus of this work. So, for the highest level of reader satisfaction, I would strongly endorse: a love of golf, an appreciation for the benefits of meditation and a careful reading of this book...in that order.
