2 CD DELUXE EDITION

Multi-platinum producer, prolific hit-maker, and sonic innovator Timbaland has announced that his third solo album, entitled Timbaland Presents Shock Value II, on Mosley Music Group/Blackground Records/Interscope Records.

The album is the follow-up to the super-producer's multi-platinum 2007 album Timbaland Presents Shock Value, which spawned three No. 1 pop singles, the Grammy-nominated "Give It To Me" (featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake), "The Way I Are," (featuring Keri Hilson and D.O.E.), and a remix of OneRepublic's multi-platinum blockbuster "Apologize" (one of the best-selling singles of the decade).

On Shock Value II, Timbaland re-maps the pop/R&B landscape by batting away genre boundaries once again. His prodigious influence and ability to stay ahead of the curve have meant that a wide range of today's most popular artists are eager to participate in the Shock Value series. This second iteration features guest appearances from Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, The Fray, Chris Daughtry, Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, Brandy, Drake, and Keri Hilson. In addition, Timbaland asserts the wide-screen sonic adventurousness that has led the Virginia Beach native to dominate the pop charts for more than a decade.

"I'm so fortunate and blessed to be able to create a Shock Value II," Timbaland says. "I'm really proud of the caliber of artists on this album and all the work they put into making it a success. I can promise that no one has ever heard Katy Perry, The Fray, or Brandy sound like this before. It's exciting because not only am I giving fans the best of me on each track, I'm giving them a glimpse of their favorite artist in a completely different light. This is an album that can be listened to from start to finish every single time because each song is so unique and the range of artists so diverse. I can't wait for my fans to hear the collaborations."

Over the course of his career, Timbaland has made an indelible imprint on the music scene. His production has helped create career-defining hits for artists such as Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Destiny's Child, Madonna, Fall Out Boy, and Jay-Z, among many others. Respected beyond the genres of urban and hip-hop music, Timbaland, whose musical influences cross cultural lines, has also been sought by diverse superstars whose music similarly knows no boundaries, from pop star Justin Timberlake to avant-singer Björk. So prolific a hit-maker is he that in the span of a single year -- 2006 to 2007 -- Timbaland produced more than 10 international chart-toppers, including Furtado's "Promiscuous," Timberlake's "Sexy Back," and 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology."

Shock Value, Vol. 2 Reviews:
Great Album!! 5 Star Review
2009-12-13 - This was hands down a terrific album. To me, its one hit after another. I'm excited that he used more pop artists to make this album even better!

Timbo, previously trend-setter, follows the current trend. 4 Star Review
2009-12-10 - Even though I was disappointed at first, in fact, this album is not that bad at all.
Actually, this is fairly decent.

However, since Timbaland was the king producer of pop for about 4 years, fans like me expect little more than this.
Especially because the first kickoff single "Morning After Dark" was actually good and reminded me "Release" and "The Way I Are" because of its good quality, the album itself is pretty disappointing.

Shock Value 2 does not provide new sounds, compilation of awesome beats.
Even though Timbaland was not really experimental on this album, Shock Value 2 is worth buying and listening.
There are lots of good songs in this album you should pay attention.

One sad thing is that Timbaland led the trend before and now he follows the trend.

Ups:
The Intro
Carry Out
Lose Control
Tomorrow In The Bottle
We Belong To The Music
Morning After Dark
If We Ever Meet Again
Ease Off The Liquor
Long Way Down

Timbaland does it again, not a Vol 2 of Shock Value but a new kind of Shock Value 4 Star Review
2009-12-09 - From start to end Timbaland will keep your system bumping with this one. The album starts and ends hard but you have to get the Deluxe Edition. Highlights: Intro, Carry Out, Lose Control, Say Something, The One Symphony.

Review of 'Shock Value 2' Deluxe 3 Star Review
2009-12-08 - Timbaland's 'Shock Value II' is nothing like the first release. The first Timbaland Presents Shock Value had a great variety of sounds and genres; it had a lot of surprise guest musicians and personalities throughout the album; it was fun and the songs were like nothing being played on the radio at the time. In short, it lived up to its title and was cutting edge, trail blazing. When Timbaland announced he was working on a follow-up and named some of the artist he was working with, I thought this was definitely going to rival the first album quality wise. 'Shock Value II' however does not live up to its predecessor. It features mediocre music that isn't at all spectacular, there aren't as many far-reaching collaborations (remember how the first featured a collabo between Timbaland and Elton John. This time around, the most far-reaching collabo is a weak one between Timbaland and Miley Cyrus). Really, I don't know what happened with this release. It's been in the works for over a year and when he first spoke about it at the start of the year, he boasted that this follow-up would feature collaborations with people like Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé the Jonas Brothers. Yet ... none of those tracks seem to have made it to the final listing. Instead, he collaborates with Justin Timberlake (nothing at all new or quality like their past work), Katy Perry, Brandy, JoJo among others.

The Good: There are some catchy songs in this collection. The very pop-friendly "Lose Control" featuring JoJo works best on the album. While Timbaland is left as backup, this felt like a typical, fun, JoJo track with a catchy chorus and upbeat, addictive melody. Also, a few of the tracks does wonders for Brandy. She appears on two tracks, including "Meet in the Middle" and "Symphothy", billed as Bran'Nu. Brandy's alter ego Bran'Nu apparently is a rapper and while this may indeed shock some, she really shines on these tracks and is a bit unrecognizable. This to me was the same element or factor that made the first 'Shock Value' work; it was all about taking artists out of their usual genres and styles and making them try something new and stretch their artistic muscles. While there's no "Apologize" or "The Way I Are" on this second album, his collaborations with Chad Kroeger and Daughtry seemed to reach for that same level and quality. Neither comes close to breaking any new ground but it was fun hearing Daughtry both pulled into the pop/hip-hop realm.

The Bad: Perhaps if this had been named something differently and not billed as a sequel/follow-up to the ground breaking 'Shock Value', it would have been a lot better. After a few listens, I feel there's nothing shocking or entirely interesting about this album. None of the tracks really has the impact or punch that the first album's tracks had. They seem rather lazy and hurriedly-slapped together. This album was delayed numerous times and as seen with many delayed albums this year, instead of getting an awesome end-product, we're left with something incredibly mediocre. I'd be interested in some of the discarded tracks from this album. This album's tracks sound very similar in sound and composition, unlike the first album where every track felt different and a bit epic and inspired. Timbaland's been hyping the Miley Cyrus track as one of the best on the album. If "We Belong To the Music" is the best 'Shock Value II' has to offer, and his idea of some of his best work, he needs to either take a long break from the business or call it a day because that track and many others on this were simply lacking, uninspired, dull and not worth the money nor the wait.

In all, 'Shock Value II' is a bore. There's been a flood of music released this quarter and this is one of those albums I couldn't in good conscious recommend anyone spending their money on. It's not at all good like the first 'Shock Value' and only shows that as many have witnessed and stated over the past few years that Timbaland seems to have hit a creative slump. Pass on this release. If you are going to buy, consider buying this deluxe edition (Shock Value, Vol. 2) rather than the regular single disc edition because some of this releases' best tracks are only available on the deluxe version. This version isn't a big improvement over the single-disc release but the bonus tracks definitely add something to the album. Yes, it's a ploy by the record company and artist to get you to shell out a few extra dollars to get their best work but unfortunately, the single disc edition just isn't worth purchasing.

A Shocking let down from Timbaland 3 Star Review
2009-12-08 - I had high expectations for this album because I was impressed and loved shock value 1.Timbaland's use of auto tune was too much for my liking. Timbaland has a unique voice that adds a different attitude to a song so I was disappointed to hear him using auto-tune on almost every song. His voice could have worked without all that computer enhancement.

I wasn't expecting the album to be lyrically enhancing based on the first album so I was hoping for the music to impress. The instrumentation is Timbaland at his best. The beats and rhythm are on point. If this cd was an instrumental I would have insisted on ten stars but since lyrics and melody have to play a part it fell flat on its behind. Carry out features Justin, Maybe I was expecting a lot based on the previous efforts of Give it To me and Release but this track is one of many on here where Timbaland is just talking about himself. Can he be that self gratifying that he needs a 2nd album centering around him and his achievements? I already read all that on Wikipedia. Timothy Where Have You Been is a song he should have sang in the shower.
The stand out tracks for me on this album are Undertow feat the Fray and Esthero, Marching On with One Republic. If he only lost the auto tune on Marching On and kept his involvement to a minimum like on Apologize this song will be a shoe in for the chart as its the only song that has good lyrics obvious credit goes to Ryan Tedder.

In Shock Value 1 there was a bit of variety with style of music and the artists that were featured also brought a different feel to the album. He had good cross genre tracks like Throw it on me with The Hives and One & only with Fall Out Boy. These tracks gave you a taste of rock/alternative as he managed to mix it a little of both hip hop and rock. Come around with M.I.A was also a good track. In Shock value 2 has the variety of artists but the music was the same all way through. When I read Chad Kroeger (Nickleback's front man), Daughtry & Esthero(Toronto's trip hop princess) were featured, I was excited to see what Tim could be brewing this time? There was no experiments with these artists. The tracks were basic and they didn't enhance this album or the songs at all they came of as remixes instead. I also didn't get why Miley Cyrus, Jojo and Kat Perry were on here was Timbaland trying to win the younger crowd? I doubt he'll get them.

All in all the album is ok not terrible but not great either. Its another album with meaningless lyrics and over used autotune maybe so that most of these tracks can find a home on a lot of DJ spins. So I'm giving it a 2.5 to 3 stars just for his beats. Good luck beating Shock Value 1 Tim.
