Timbaland Presents Shock Value Reviews:
Song "The Way I Are" is NOT RADIO VERSION
2009-12-09 - I bought this CD for one song only: The Way I Are (even though I like the beat/tune I cringe over the bad grammar)
Anyway, the song is NOT the radio version which is much, much better featuring a sort of solo with the female singer toward the end of song. That part is completely missing and it's just all instrumental. So that sucked.
Timbaland is a genius!
2008-10-16 - I loved all but one track on this CD...it is very rare to find an album with so many great songs. While they all share a similar tie to the techno mixed with hip-hop, the CD still boasts a vast array of different styles: fast, slow, heavy bass, masculine, feminine...I just can't say enough good things about the songs.
I think the people who will enjoy this CD the most are the ones who listened to techno in the 80s, but enjoy today's hip-hop just as much.
Before I bought this album, I bought Loose...afterhearing both albums, I am convinced Timbaland will go down in history as one of the greatest producers that ever lived.
Timbaland
2007-12-12 - I only like two tracks on this CD...but if you are into some techno beats this is whas'sup...DEUCES...
New Definition of Rap & Hip-Hop
2007-08-28 - I'm going to go out on a limb say this is the greatest hip-hop record ever. The singles have already reached out to more people worldwide than ever imaginable. An array of musical styles is represented on Shock Value: Rap, Hip-Hop, African, Blues, Latin, Techno and even New Wave. Timbaland still doesn't lose the listener with his serious hip-hop direction and vocal message. 2007 has been a great year for hip-hop with ridiculous "big-pimpin" hits from Jay-Z and Usher stepping down on the charts. Many new platinum artists like T-pain, Akon and Timbaland are taking over, breaking new grounds with high quality recordings.
Gotta Love Samples!
2007-06-03 - I work at a cosmetics counter and this CD is perfect for playing all day! Its tracks are all fanastic--though, I don't care for "Bounce" much. If you like the songs Timbaland has produced with Nelly Furtado and JT--and pretty much whoever else--you'll enjoy "Shock Value." He collaborates with lots of artists from several different genres of music--and samples Nina Simone and others. Very danceable, listenable and fun. I wonder to whom he refers with the line in "Give It To Me," "I'm a real producer and you're just a piano man." Curious!
