Spark/Do It Again/Cooling Reviews:
Title Release
2007-08-09 - The title track of this single is great, but again, it's the companion tracks that make the single worth it. "Cooling" is fantastic, and "Do It Again" is a funky rendition for an oft airy Tori.
A short release that includes one of her greatest songs.
2005-01-16 - The title track is from her 1998 album, "from the choirgirl hotel." Along with three color postcards, this single includes her unique cover of Steely Dan's "Do it Again" (a song fans continue to ask her to play live, but she has yet to supply). It also includes one of her best songs she has written to date" "Cooling." Originally written for her 1996 album, "Boys for Pele," "Cooling" is a beautiful composition highlighting Tori's ethereal and beautiful voice, immense talent on the piano, and poetic way with lyrics. It takes you to the core of who Tori Amos is, and afterward all you can think about is travelling through it again. It may go in through your ears, but it goes straight to your heart, never letting its relentless beauty escape from its new found home.
And do it again !
2001-03-01 - This is a nice single.
First, there is the great "Spark" itself. A wonderfull song, full of energy. It follows the tradition of other great Tori songs like "Cornflake Girl", "Crucify", "Bliss" and "Caught A Lite Sneeze".
"Do It Again" is really the one I went for. It's a great, long ( almost 6 minutes in length ) and rocky cover. I think it's very sensual. This song could've fit beautiful on "From The Choirgirl Hotel" next to "She's Your Cocaïne".
"Cooling" is a nice little Tori and the piano song like you'll find on her older songs. You can find a live version of this song on "To Venus And Back".
And there R the polaroids. A really nice and cute surprise. They R nothing all too special, just cute and fun to watch.
A MUST FOR ANY COLLECTOR
2000-08-04 - This import is definately a must-have for anyone who seeks to own all the B-sides. This particular version hails from Germany, and you will find that two of the songs on it are not available anywhere else. Tori's cover of "Do It Again" by Steely Dan is excellent! Her completely fresh and unique take on this classic rock staple once again showcases her creative range. A live version of "Cooling" was featured on To Venus and Back, but this is the only place to hear the studio version, which includes segments that were omitted during the live performance. A great buy guaranteed!
Tori Amos knows where her spark is.
1999-11-26 - This UK single is a beauty. Made up of the hypnotic title track, a driving in-your-face cover of Steely Dan's "Do It Again", and the wistfully poignant "Cooling." Tori goes back to her girl-and-piano roots on "Cooling," which does not have any electronic hoo-ha that has emerged in her more recent work; it's simply the girl and the piano. It is a beautiful track, and "Do It Again" is deviously delicious. I give this single the highest rating.
