  • Editorial Review:
These two concerts from Montreux in 1991 and 1992 catch Tori Amos right at the start of her solo career. The first, from July 1991, was filmed a few months before the release of her "Little Earthquakes" album and the second from July 1992 followed a few months after. There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album. Naturally most of the songs are taken from "Little Earthquakes" but there are also rare songs from her various EPs released across the two years which didn't make it onto the album including her distinctive takes on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Thank You" and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

TRACK LISTING 1991 Show 1) Silent All These Years 2) Precious Things 3) China 4) Crucify 5) Leather 6) Song For Eric 7) Upside Down 8) Happy Phantom 9) Winter 10) Thank You

1992 Show 1) Little Earthquakes 2) Crucify 3) Silent All These Years 4) Precious Things 5) Happy Phantom 6) Whole Lotta Love / Thank You 7) Me And A Gun 8) Winter 9) Smells Like Teen Spirit

    Live at Montreux 1991 & 1992 Reviews:
    Lovely 5 Star Review
2009-06-10 - Tori's performance is especially fresh and candid. This is an fantastic example of Tori's early career, before all the wigs and role-play.

A Treasure from the Tori Archives 5 Star Review
2009-05-10 - Tori Amos is a Goddess to those who are lucky enough to be acquainted with her work. Here, we get to see 2 performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival very early in her career. The set lists are nearly identical, but to see how she has grown as a performer from one year to the next is just an awesome experience. You cheer for her when she stops in the middle of a song to tell two members of the audience to be quiet. You cry when she sings Me and a Gun. You get chills all the rest of the time. This is a must for any Tori lover and if you are new to Tori, this is an excellent place to start.

To whoever released this DVD: Thank you for preserving a piece of modern musical history.

A "MUST HAVE" 5 Star Review
2009-05-05 - If you like a little bit Tori you're gonna love her in this blu-ray, although the video are 2 live concerts (piano solo) the way she plays and sings is unbelievable and incredible GOOD. She is very talented and beautiful (kind of Hot).
    I really love her!!!!!!!
Thank you Tori for editing and producing this blu-ray.
It is a must have video.
DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THIS BLU-RAY (or DVD).
Blu-ray quality 1080i excelent resolution!!!!....., Audio DTS Extraordinary as well.

The jacket tells... 5 Star Review
2009-04-12 - If you like Tori, you'll like this brief extract of her incredible songbook... the show isn't so young, but it is definitively good.

    Lisible sur une PS3 européenne.

A Good Buy 5 Star Review
2009-03-23 - Even though there are 2 concerts in this disc, it is only single layer which means the capacity is smaller than 25GB. 2 concerts, less than 25GB?? Why not making it 1 concert in one BD-50 disc and 2 concerts in two BD-50 discs, just like Jewel's Live Songbook BD? OK, this is just my whining...

With regard to the disc quality, PQ and AQ are excellent as expected.

And the concerts...Tori sang songs from her first CD album and somehow hearing these songs have brought back memories of my younger days.
And to compare the two concerts, 1991 is a much better concert and has tons of replay value. But Tori looks prettier and acts more confident in the 1992 concert. Winter is perhaps my favorite song from the 1991 concert.

For obvious reason, I have never had the chance to attend her performance on stage, so buying this BD and watching her sing is "almost" like a dream come true for me.

No question about it, this BD is a 5-star from me.
This BD is a good buy if you are a fan or someone who just wants to watch and hear some nice music in a cozy setting.
