Editorial Review:
After many years on the Gulf Coast and then the Nashville dance-hall circuit, Trace Adkins finally released his debut album, Dreamin' Out Loud, in 1996. Not only did he score three No. 1 hits, but critics responded warmly to his gorgeous baritone, his tasteful sense of understatement, and his neo-honky-tonk instincts. Adkins, though, is not much of a songwriter--he cowrote two songs on his debut and two more on his followup, Big Time. As a result, he's only as good as the songs he sings, and the 10 new tunes on the new album are a pretty lackluster bunch. The title track is one verbal and music cliché after another ("A sip of champagne by candlelight ... let 'em dance until the cows come home" he sings over a generic Brooks & Dunn ripoff), and it sets the tone for the whole project. "See Jane Run" is meant to parody the naivet´ of first-grade readers but merely reproduces it. "Nothin' But Taillights" has the misfortune of appearing in the wake of the much better, similarly-named title track on the new Clint Black album. Adkins can still be an appealing singer when he gets the right material, as he proves on a haunting, unplugged version of the old hymn, "Wayfaring Stranger." --Geoffrey Himes

What a Voice 5 Star Review
2008-01-27 - Listening to Trace is like being transported to a pleasure zone of smiles. His voice and personality come accross as strong and clean. This is just one of many I own. Love his songs and stage appearances.

Good Voice, Bad Songs 1 Star Review
2004-12-21 - All I can say about this CD is that I was so upset with the songs. Most of them got no interesting story to tell, unlike good songs that always do. I admit that he got a great voice, probably one of the most talented singers in the industry, but... If only he got better materials to record. He should learn something from his first album. 'Every light In The House' is still one among my all time favorits. Hope that he could get back on track ASAP

Great second cd! 5 Star Review
2004-01-04 - I thought the Amazon editorial review was very unfair in regards to what he thought of this cd. I'm a big Trace Adkins fan. I got introduced to Trace's music through his Chrome cd and was hooked. He has one of the most amazing, one-of-a-kind male voices in country music today, next to Toby Keith. Trace sounds like no one else. His deep and rich baritone voice has an honesty to it that makes his songs come across with that much more conviction. He can also hit the high notes really good too. When he sings a love song or a song of heartbreak, you know the man means every word! There is nothing artificial about Trace and that is why i love the guy so much. He's an honest, hard-working blue collar man who sings good songs. After hearing the Chrome cd, i went and bought his first cd and this one. I've yet to get his third cd, but will be purchasing it very soon. I also have his Greatest Hits cd and will be getting his new cd soon also. I enjoy all his cds, though my favorite Trace Adkins cd is Chrome, and i've yet to hear his new cd, which i understand is his best yet. Can't wait to find out! I find that the Big Time cd gets better with each listen. The best track on the cd is The Rest Of Mine. I love when Trace does ballads! But alot of the other songs on the cd are really great. Lonely Won't Leave Me Alone is amazing with the way he hits the high notes for a guy who can sing SO deep with his baritone. I'm totally thrilled that Trace was recently inducted into the country music hall of fame. This is one country artist who defintely deserves the award. I'm very happy for him!! Way to go, Trace!! You have a fan for life.
