Editorial Review:
"Let me kiss it and make it better," purrs the X-rated vixen turned mainstream actress as she attempts (on "Control," the first single) to get a rise out of the techno audience. With writing/production from Babble (ex-Thompson Twins), the KLF's Ben Watkins and Mike Edwards of Jesus Jones, the music is sleek, robotic, and primed for clubbers who'll view her as the camp descendant of disco queen Amanda Lear. "Outlaw Lover" is worthy of Mitsou and the serious tone of "Father's Field" tells us not to treat her too lightly. --Jeff Bateman
1000 Fires Reviews:
More then one would expect
2009-11-02 - This is actually a rather good album in the technoish popish trancy area, I am fond of Control and Fallen Angel(Although the Paul Okenfold mix on the Virtuosity sound track is better).
Traci should've stuck with what she did best and what she was known for....
2009-08-20 - Traci can not act at all and she can not sing worth crap.only thing she was good at was what she did in the early '80's and she left that.too bad for traci, for she is a pretty woman but just no talent.
Hear Traci Lords Sing
2009-08-14 - After going to the theater and seeing the first Mortal Kombat movie I went and bought the soundtrack. Traci Lords was the only artist I wanted to know about. Traci's 1000 Fires CD is one of the few CD's I listen in the car instead of pushing random on my mp3 player. It took my five years to find 1000 Fires at a Borders Book Store none the less. I have the Control and Fallen Angel singles and I wish I could find anything that Traci Lords recorded.
Awesome Techno Album by Traci Lords
2008-06-14 - I first heard this cd when I was dancing in a strip club in L.A. Traci Lords is yes the porn star who made headlines with her underagescandal in the 80's. According to her biography, this cd did very well when it came out in the early 90's. It has a number of really great songs including Fallen Angel and Control, which were the singles released of the album. Traci Lords is just sexy anyways you want to spin it and this cd is no joke. A lot of the songs were produced by Juno Reactor, who also had a lot of big hits in the early rave years. I thought maybe this cd would be a little cheesy, but it wasn't whatsoever and there are even a few nice downtempo tracks as well as the harder techno versions. Her voice and lyrics are very sexy and strong. It's a shame she hasn't made a follow up to this album.
More than a monotonous beat
2007-08-14 - This CD has plenty of beats, but every song has a catchy melody or hook. Traci's vocals fit like a glove. The recording sounds great, too. We used to play this at work every other day. (I wish she'd put out another CD.) Some highlights include the driving "Fly" and the surreal dream of "Say Something." The closing track, "Okey Dokey," always makes me laugh. "Here in my purple room..."
