Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.0 Reviews:
    Season 4.0/4.5 are a Rip-off 1 Star Review
2009-12-15 - Ripping a page out of Sex an the City's book, those greedy jerks at Universal Studios have decided to rip off their customers by splitting Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica into two parts, thus unfairly doubling their profits. Well I, for one, will not be ripped off! They tried this crap before on Season 2, but I was able to get around that. Had I not been able to buy The Complete Season 2 from an Australian site instead of settling for Season 2.0 and 2.5, I would have given up on Galactica much sooner.

As it is, just as I refused to buy Sex and the City, Season 6, Part 1 and Part 2, so will I never buy Battlestar Glalactica, Season 4.0 and 4.5. In fact, these idiotic marketing decisions have completely turned me off to all things Galactica.

Therefore, I will not be watching, much less purchasing, Battlestar Galactica, The Plan, or Caprica, or any other Galactica product that may be released, unless and until Universal decides to correct its idiotic blunders by re-releasing the complete Seasons 2 and 4 of Battlestar Galactica, each in its own single boxed set, without doubling the prices of the half-season sets.

I hope that anyone who reads this and agrees with me will follow suit.

Finally: people rating the CONTENT and NOT the PACKAGE - CHEERS !!! 4 Star Review
2009-12-13 - I'd like to state my HUGE satisfaction and my GRATITUDE, as I discover that, in their most recent reviews, people finally are rating what they think of the show ITSELF.

Until recently, LOTS of people used to express their outrage - which I absolutely share - about the scandalous rip-off universal chose to put upon us, *coincidentally* dividing the FINAL season of a hugely popular show into two halves, the added cost of which have steadily remained about one third more expensive than the introducing price of season 3.
(I admit I haven't actually verified this final claim - it reflects an emotional, rather than lucid assessment of the prices... I'm still pretty sure about the basic fact the two halves just DO cost more than one of the previous seasons... and still do, a year after they came out!)

The thing is that I suspect that a majority of customers and fans, just like myself, take the RATINGS appearing in association with movies and tv-shows to be ABOUT THE VALUE OF THEIR CONTENT. If there was ANOTHER rating about packaging, price, value for money etc., I'd be GLAD to have it!
Since there isn't, I've been really mad (and I've read enough comments to see I'm not the only one) to see people drastically modifying their rating of B.G.'s final season, which they thought to be "the greatest show of all time", to 2 and 1 star ratings because of the two halves thing.
That is just absurd, as the rating won't specify WHY it is so low!!!

So, this is to express my THANKS TO EVERYONE who overcame her/his frustration about packaging and marketing hold-ups and stuck to what they thought about the show itself.

    Cheers to all!

The Beginning of the End... 5 Star Review
2009-11-02 - The beginning of the end of the best television series I've ever seen. Season 4 picks up immediately after Season 3's awesome finale without skipping a beat and proceeds to blow us away more and more. One of the coolest things about Battlestar Galactica is that unlike many other TV series, whereby the third or fourth season, we just watch it out of habit or to see what happens, Battlestar keeps giving us more and more of a reason to watch. The action and drama don't stop and we are drawn in even more than before as new revelations come about. Another thing I particularly enjoy about Battlestar is that the mysteries are cool and pretty clever, unlike some shows like LOST, where they seem to be tacked-on and have no backbone. The character development continues on as well, seeing our favorites take unexpected turns, twists and even drops. I had better stop here and just say that this a very worthwhile purchase. While it is unfortunate that the box sets for Seasons 2 and 4 were split into two, making us pay more to get them, the show is so good it makes up for it... at least for me. Enjoy.

Getting to Earth 4 Star Review
2009-11-01 - Season 4 of the Battlestar Galactica remake begins with a bang and ends with a whimper. The first episode begins with Starbucks' miraculous return to the fleet. Quickly we see the murder of Cally, the growing friendship of Galen and Balter, Baltar's admission of guilt over the destruction of the colonies, and Baltar's growing cult-like status. The final episode ends with a whimper as the fleet reaches Earth, only to discover that it has been ravaged by nuclear war. Taken together, this season probably has more major events packed into such few episodes than any of the other episodes. It is quite a testimony to the skills and abilities of the writers and directors. Along the way, we have several great space battles, several key betrayals, and an illicit relationship between Tigh and a Six model. This is a great viewing experience that combines drama, comedy, suspense, action and fantasy. But this is not what makes this a great series. No, what makes this a great series are the well-crafted illusions to mythology, religion and history. First, the voyage to Earth parallels the spread of monotheism within the fleet led by Baltar, a former farmer from a poor colony who is ashamed of his past and heritage. Second, we have a growing disenchantment with the leadership of the fleet as represented by President Roslin and Admiral Adama. Together, they blends Moses's trek thru the desert with the gradual conversion of the Roman Empire from paganism to Christianity. Then there is the return of Starbuck, a resurrection by any definition of the word, and her guidance fo the fleet to Earth. And most importantly, Hera, the union of human and cylon, and the visions that surround her by both humans and cylons. All told, quite a show and probably the year's best TV series.
