Editorial Review:
His talent was unbounded -- a raw force that commanded attention and respect.
His death was tragic -- a violent homage to the power of his voice.
His legacy is indomitable -- as vibrant and alive today as it has ever been.
Tupac Shakur's most intimate and honest thoughts were uncovered only after his death with the instant classic The Rose That Grew from Concrete.
For the first time in paperback, this collection of deeply personal poetry is a mirror into the legendary artist's enigmatic world and its many contradictions.
Written in his own hand from the time he was nineteen, these seventy-two poems embrace his spirit, his energy -- and his ultimate message of hope.
The Rose that Grew from Concrete Reviews:
A must-have for any Tupac fans.
2009-10-16 - This was a gift for my younger brother. I've read this before and enjoyed it. He thought it was a great gift and loved it.
True Rose
2009-09-14 - I purchase the book to use in my literature class. I have not had the chance to use it in class yet but I know my students are going to love it. I know Tupac was a creative artist and whatever he did stood out. His poems are no different, his word choice helps capture the readers imagination and allows the reader to empathize/sympathize with him. I recommend it for any one who questions what it takes to be a rapper/story teller. This will clearly show that Literature & writing played a major role in the life of a person that is considered to be one of the "Greatest Rappers of all Time."
From The Heart
2009-08-24 - Beautiful book, poetry was nothing short of inspirational and excellent! Im so happy this book was published!
What You Didn't Know
2009-07-15 - One Of the greatest modern literary pieces in my opinion. the book shows the late icon as you have never seen him before. He gives detailed introspective insight to a variety of subjects such as love, money, and even his political beliefs. If you truly wish to take a glimpse into the world of a tortured genius this is the book for you. The Ups and Downs, Smiles and Frowns, for nothing is too sacred in the poetic semi-biography of the rappers life. The eerie predictions he had about his aspirations as well as his almost inevitable fate will captivate you. A great masterpiece which should be shared with the world.
