Little Songs Reviews:
Moody, magical, and masterful, this is what music is about
2006-01-03 - I was sad to see David Usher leave Moist to pursue a solo career, Moist being one of the definitive bands of the 90's in Canada (for those who don't know them, Moist was to Canada what Pearl Jam was to the US) I was crying for a different reason after hearing "Little Songs"
This album is what music is about. I know, I said it before, but it bears repeating. David Usher bares his soul with the sort of lyricism and song-craft that raises him to the level of the great singer-song writers of all time. From the soft melody of F-Train to the heart-tearing Unholy, Dirty and Beautiful, this album explores depths of human emotion untouched even by Moist's flagship of angst, "Believe Me". David Usher displays a rare talent for stepping into the listener's heart and setting up permanent residence with unforgettable songs.
"Little Songs" is one of those rare albums I can listen to any time, no matter what my mood. This album isn't just good. It's top-five - what CD would you want on a desert island - recommend it to all your friends - permanent place in the CD changer good. I can listen to it falling asleep and waking up and any time in between, and I swear every time I hear it I love it more.
Beautiful, Moving, True Art Piece
2005-10-28 - This has got to be his best solo album. I've got all his solo albums (and all his Moist albums) as of Oct 2005 (up till "If God Had Curves"). The acoustic sounds really stress his beautiful and haunting vocals that have the ability to reach inside you and draw you so close to his feelings. The lyrics really stand out here.
recieved in 98 and i'm still playing it in 04!
2004-10-03 - I am certainly a proud fan of David usher and Moist.... i've been a fan since the release of their first album Silver. When i fist found out usher was releasing a solo, i was extreamly excieted.I bought it the day it was released and listened to it constantly. Most of my firends aren't exactly huge moist fans but they were very impressed with the Cd and didn't mind the sound of the Deep and Mystic music. I have purchased this Cd for myself twice now after having it lost for 4 months i relized how much of a classic this is. i very much suggest buying this album.I do have to just add david is an extreamly talented artist and an amazing performer. i enjoyed the songs from little songs even more live... he sounds even more amazing! Very Deep Album
Give it a chance
2003-10-23 - On first listen, it's quiet possible that you won't like this CD, but I assure you that it will grow on you. This is my favorite album to put on and listen to in a dark room with candles. The songs are mostly moody and odd but they are all beautiful. St. Lawrence River and F Train are my two favorite tracks; fabulous acoustic guitar. This stuff is wildly different from anything he did with Moist but it's worth checking out. Morning Orbit and Hallucinations are such a step down from this album.
original.
2003-09-05 - I've heard most of the songs on this CD. But the rest are bound to be just as good. Worth buying! Best thing about this cd is track 3, one of my favorites of David usher.
