Description of Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Widescreen Edition):
As a screenwriter, Shane Black made millions of dollars from screenplays for the big-budget action movies Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout, among others. With his directing debut Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Black mocks and undercuts every cliche he once helped to invent. While fleeing from the cops, small time hood Harry Lockhart (Robert Downey Jr., Wonder Boys) stumbles into an acting audition--and does so well he gets taken to Hollywood, where--pursuing a girl he loved in high school (foxy Michelle Monaghan, North Country)--he gets caught up in twisty murder mystery. His only chance of getting out alive is a private detective named Gay Perry (Val Kilmer, Wonderland, The Doors), who sidelights as a consultant for movies. No plot turn goes untweaked by Black's clever, witty script, and Downey, Kilmer, and Monaghan clearly have a ball playing their screwball variations on action movie stereotypes. There's nothing profound about Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, but it brings back wicked mischief to a genre that all often takes itself too seriously. --Bret Fetzer
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
Best noir of the last 10 years at least
2008-12-01 - Funny, smart, interesting and just a blast to watch over and over- HD-DVD or Blu-Ray both look the same, nice and sharp picture quality, for the HD-DVD price this was a no brainer
Robert Downey is Likable ?
2008-11-23 - I'm not a Robert Downey fan but he gives a good performance in a very
well written movie. Supporting actors add to the flavor of this film.
A must see if your a mystery/comedy fan.
A must for any movie buff.
2008-10-30 - I have been a fan of this film for a few years and was happy to learn that it was available for Blu-Ray. The film was clear and the picture was vibrant so if you have this film for DVD you may want to upgrade. The film is well worth it; it's dark humor is brilliant and I hope Robert Downy Jr. and Val Kilmer make more movies together.
Funny. Sexy. Cool
2008-10-24 - What can I say?
Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer nailed this one.
Their dynamic is really something special. The plot is quite good and has enough mini twists to keep you busy and into it.
Great movie, must own!
Beyond Amazing, SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!
2008-09-09 - I first saw this movie because of my love for Robert Downey Jr, and this is by far my favorite film by him. The story is silly, clever, and dark. There is a plethora of clever inside jokes and jibes. The cast is phenomenal; Downey Jr. plays a great imp as Harry Lockhart, and Val Kilmer is great as Gay Perry, who is full of biting jabs and flair. Michelle Monaghan also shines in this movie, she adds a lot of spark and goofiness to the film.
I was laughing my butt off for the entire film, and it made me such an active viewer. I was gasping, covering my mouth, laughing so hard at the clever jokes...I couldn't get enough of this film. And, getting to watch Robert Downey Jr. look so great for 110 minutes was also a big plus.
If you want AMAZING acting, great laughs, and a good interactive story, then SEE THIS MOVIE!!! A lot of people say it's stupid, not funny, or lacking chemistry, but they are definitely wrong on all counts!
