Disney High School Musical 2 (Blu-ray) (Extended Edition) It's time to sing and dance because there's so much more to celebrate in "High School Musical 2: Extended Edition." Experience the movie in a whole new way with a never-before-seen music sequenceand rehearsal footage, plus sing lead vocals withHigh School Karaoke. The East High Wildcats are gearing up for big fun as they land the coolest summer jobs imaginable. Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), Chad (Corbin Bleu), and Taylor (Monique Coleman) have scored sweet gigs at the Lava Springs Country Club owned by Sharpay and Ryan'sfamily.

Description of High School Musical 2 (Extended Edition) [Blu-ray]:
What time is it? Time for High School Musical 2, the sequel to the Disney Channel smash that aired on Aug. 17, 2007 and became the most-watched basic-cable show ever. School is out, and Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) are looking forward to a summer to remember, but Troy also needs to make bank so he can go to college. As it turns out, Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale), the self-proclaimed primo girl of East High, has her eye set on primo-boy Troy, and gets him a job at the country club her parents own. It looks great for Troy when Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats are hired also, but when he gets preferential treatment from the club manager (Mark Taylor) and others, it puts all of his relationships in hot water.

Everyone's back from the original movie, including Zac's buddy Chad (Corbin Bleu), Sharpay's brother Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), and Gabriella's friend Taylor (Monique Coleman). And the songs on the hit soundtrack often parallel the originals and are just as catchy: the Troy-Gabriella duet ("You Are the Music in Me," which is later Sharpay-ized into a rock version), the sports-flavored hip-hop number ("I Don't Dance," but this time on the baseball diamond instead of the basketball court), the Gabriella lament ("Gotta Go My Own Way"), the climactic stage duet ("Everyday"), and the mass-ensemble closer ("All for One"). But the sequel doesn't just stick to the status quo. Other songs include a flashy opener ("What Time Is It"), Sharpay's poolside feature ("Fabulous"), a percussive ensemble number ("Work This Out"), and Zac's solo ("Bet On It"), and the dances are even bigger this time around, relentlessly high-energy and often spectacular. In addition, the "let's put on a show" angle is only a subplot and the romance is now front and center--which means High School Musical has lost a bit of its innocence. But it's still wholesome viewing for tweens of all ages. Sharp-eyed Disney Channel fans will spot Miley "Hannah Montana" Cyrus as an extra. --David Horiuchi

High School Musical 2 (Extended Edition) [Blu-ray] Reviews:
High School Musical 2 5 Star Review
2009-10-27 - This DVD has no nasty language, they keep body parts hidden. The songs aren't anything bad. It is an enjoyable movie for the whole family.

    Seller helpful 5 Star Review
2009-10-16 - When I recived the product I did nt realize it was blu-ray (My fault) Seller was very helpful and I was able to return for a refund.

High School Musical 2 (Extended Edition) 5 Star Review
2009-10-09 - I bought this movie for my grand-daughter but the whole family enjoyed it. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens made this movie just like they did in the 1st one. Their romance is very touching. The music and dancing is fantastic. All the actors and actresses played great roles.

not as good as the original - but still fun 3 Star Review
2009-09-10 - Strip away the excess padding of the film's hefty 111 minute running-time and some of the more overblown musical numbers and you just might enjoy this as much as the first "High School Musical", but then you've missed the whole point. Director/choreographer Kenny Ortega really goes to town with HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, the sequel to the surprise smash-hit Disney Channel movie, set during the gang's summer vacation.

When Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) and their friends all land summer jobs at the ritzy Lava Springs resort owned by Sharpay and Ryan's parents, they simply can't believe their luck - and there's even going to be an end-of-summer talent competition! But when Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) starts manipulating Troy for her own amusement, will he choose a college scholarship over Gabriella and his friends?

The plot is as predictable as the first movie, but these "High School Musical" films need to be enjoyed on another level entirely. Kenny Ortega has furnished the movie with tonnes of electric dance routines and the cast gives their absolute all. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens make sweet music in the leads but the spotlight always ends up roaming to Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel as the duplicitous twins Sharpay and Ryan--they really get to shine in this film.

    Recommended.

Deserves as many low ratings as possible 1 Star Review
2009-06-04 - High School Musical 2, well, just might be the worst of them all. This one REEKS of phony high school drama (not to say the first one did not) as it's one of the most annoying films to ever be caught on camera. And while this movie came out two years ago, bad _____ such as this deserves to be bashed. If these films ever become cult classics in the near future (hey, cults can be stupid), I'll make sure I watch the cult drink the kool-aid.

This time around, the plot deals with the most annoying plot line I've ever heard. It goes along the lines about a spoiled annoying girl wanting to steal someone's boyfriend. To do this, she must hire him, but she doesn't want his friends there. So she whines. Seriously, who gives a ____? Anyone, anywhere? Good god, what a bunch of _____.

Besides that, there's nothing much else worth yacking about, considering that the competition . Tone-deaf compositions skills, bad acting, lousy (though the country club itself is very cool and I wouldn't mind visiting it myself) film-making, blah blah blah. High school musical 2 is yet another failure, and I hope the disney channel stops making this ______.
