Description of The Jacksons - An American Dream (The Complete Miniseries):
The miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream begins in the 1940s, when Joseph Jackson (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) and Katherine (Angela Bassett) meet and fall in love, and ends in the 1980s, when their sons reunite for the 1983 Victory Tour that brought them back together as the Jacksons. During the first part, "The Early Years," the couple starts a family, and although times are tough, Joseph still finds time to play music on the side. When he discovers that his sons have inherited the same talent, the Jackson 5 are born. They sign with Motown and start churning out the gold records. The second part, "The Success Years," begins in 1970 at the peak of their fame, but by 1976, the hits have started to dry up. If the acting is uneven and the story somewhat sanitized, Bassett is affecting, and the series includes Emmy-winning choreography and a combination of original and re-created material, ranging from "I Want You Back" (1969) to Michael Jackson's "Beat It" (from 1982's multi-platinum Thriller). --Kathleen C. The Jacksons - An American Dream (The Complete Miniseries) Reviews:
Great Movie!
2009-12-15 - A great movie especially for new fans of Michael and J5. The acting is very good, the actors were well-chosen, and it's simply a great story. I didn't want to see it end.
Love My Michael!!
2009-12-12 - I really enjoyed this movie!! I didn't even know this movie existed! :O It was filmed 1 year before "The Scandal" so that could be why. *rolls eyes* So many more hidden treasures I know I will find from Michael and The Jacksons for the rest of my life--too bad he had to die for these treasures to surface. Heh. I was very impressed and completely engulfed in watching the rise of The Jackson 5 and Michael finally going out on his own. Watching the story between his parents is pretty compelling, too... even though, I'm sure there is a WHOLE lot more to it. Another masterpiece that I have missed out on because of the media morons. Doesn't matter anymore... this movie is about Victory--and Michael will ALWAYS have it!! ;) 5 STARS!!!
Also, I don't know why people are giving the movie 1 star because of Amazon's service. These are MOVIE reviews, and people like me read them and actually take them into consideration when we make a purchase. Please don't give a movie a low rating just because you had problems with your order. It has nothing to do with the movie itself. I'm sure a LOT of people would appreciate this. Thanks. :)
all around good

THE LIFE OF A SUPER MEGA STAR AND HIS FAMILY
2009-11-01 - This film does a good job of depicting the story of The Jackson family's life. I could watch it over and over and not tire of it. I think you would like this movie even if you are not a Michael Jackson or The Jacksons fan. It is a love story and the story of a family rising from rags to riches and all the hardships of both worlds. It makes you hurt for the family members while at the same time cheering them on. All in all it is a very good story. I hope this review helps.
The Jacksons- An American Dream
2009-10-18 - Great insight into the Jacksons. This movie is emotional and when they first came on the charts here in Australia I had no idea of what they went through to becaome the stars they were. All we new was that they were better than the Osmands. At least the Jacksons didn't alwasy sing other peoples songs. Great to watch I am glad I have it.
