Description of G.I. Jane [Blu-ray]:
It seemed like a pretty good career move, and for the most part it was. Demi Moore will never top any rational list of great actresses, but as her career stalled in the mid-1990s she had enough internal fire and external physicality to be just right for her title role in G.I. Jane. Her character's name isn't Jane--it's Jordan O'Neil--but the fact that she lacks a penis makes her an immediate standout in her elite training squad of Navy SEALs. She's been recruited as the first female SEAL trainee through a series of backroom political maneuvers, and must prove her military staying power against formidable odds--not the least of which is the abuse of a tyrannical master chief (Viggo Mortensen) who puts her through hell to improve her chances of success. Within the limitations of a glossy star vehicle, director Ridley Scott manages to incorporate the women-in-military issue with considerable impact, and Moore--along with her conspicuous breast enhancements and that memorable head-shaving scene--jumps into the role with everything she's got. 2009-11-13 - I doubt if there are many women who could do the rigorous training in actuality. Apparently Demi Moore did some amazing physical drills and was in great shape for this movie.
The movie was fanatsy but well done, acceptable & enjoyable...only 4 stars for the fanasty part...

Very underrated....deserves to be seen, especially in Blu-Ray
2009-09-13 - I saw this at the theater only because they were showing the trailer for the (then) new Lost In Space movie at the time (yeah, that one turned out to be a huge disappointment, but growng up as a fan of the cheesy TV series as a child I was SO stoked for it). However, I had paid my admittance fee and was determined to see the movie even though I was, and am, not a Demi Moore fan. Needless to say, I was caught completely off-guard. It was really good. Really good!...in sort of a more realistic female Rambo in boot-camp sort of way. And it look fantastic on Blu-Ray. A definite buy!

Ridley Scott's "Lemon"
2009-02-26 - I never had the opportunity to see this movie on it's initial release so decided to purchase the dvd.I was looking forward to a good action and some drama for which Ridley Scott is known.We also enjoy Anne Bancroft's acting and her appearance in the movie would be a bonus. My wife and I sat down and watched it and were annoyed at wasting good money on low-fare entertainment.The gung-ho portrayal of the navy is very typical of hollywood, unrealistic and extremely corny (I cringed when the characters all started saying "hoo-ya" ). After the torture scene we just felt annoyed that a possibly good story turned farcical and I watched the rest of the movie on fast-play out of mere curiosity. I would give this one star and no more.This was highly dissapointing, the only redeeming part was the opening scene with Anne Bancroft and the end-credits.
