The kind of Trouble you want
2008-04-13 - The first WS CD I heard was Lovehunter, probably around 1980 or thereabouts, and encouraged me to find more by the band. In my opinion, everything prior to the 1987 CD i.e. before Coverdale parted company with the 3 M's, demonstrates WS at their best and the Trouble album is probably my favourite. The title track is superb and they also do a really funky version of 'Day-Tripper' which for me is streets ahead of The Beatles own version. My recommendation is, if you've only heard the post- Marsden, Moody, Murray version of WS, then you really need to check this album out, not so much for the 'metal' guitars (because you won't find any!), but for the sheer quality of the song writing and the range of styles which the band showed it could do well.

Classic Whitesnake
2008-04-12 - Like many people, I first discovered Whitesnake in 1987 when they released their smash hit self-titled album. Growing up with that album, as well as the band's 1989 follow-up Slip of the Tongue, make listening to the band's early works a challenge. They're all good albums, but it's just not the Whitesnake I'm used to.

Released in 1978, Trouble is the band's fourth album (I'm counting counting White Snake and Northwinds). The blues and boogie Whitesnake sound on Trouble bears precious little resemblance to the hooks n' hairspray Whitesnake I was introduced to in 1987, but it's still plenty of fun to listen to. I love the hard charging Don't Mess with Me and the bluesy take on the Beatles' Day Tripper best, but the whole album is enjoyable and has something of a Thin Lizzy meets early Kansas vibe.

Trouble (or any other pre-1987 Whitesnake album) isn't for casual Whitesnake fans. If you're a serious fan of Whitesnake and David Coverdale though, it's definitely an album worth owning.

Whitesnake's first full length album
2005-10-08 - 1978's Trouble is Whitesnake's first full length album. Originally released by United Artists in the U.S., it was rereleased by Geffen along with the rest of Whitesnake's early catalog after their 1987 album hit big. Trouble is an excellent blues rock album. With songs like Take me With You, Daytripper, and Love to Keep You Warm it is hard not to love this great album. If you like Whitesnake, Trouble is worth tracking down.

Excellent CD of Early Whiesnake
2005-05-22 - When they REALLY rocked. In the same vein as Snakebite, Saints & Sinners and Come An' Get It. I don't know all about all the band members like other fans do. I just like the way they sound here. I wanted to write this review so other fans would know what to expect. A must have for any Whitesnake collection.
